1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus,
2 to Timothy, beloved son: Grace, mercy and peace, from God the Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
3 I thank God, whom I serve from my elders with a clear conscience, that I constantly remember you in my prayers night and day;
4 longing to see you, remembering your tears, to fill me with joy;
5 bringing to mind the unfeigned faith that is in you, which lived first in your grandmother Lois, and in your mother Eunice, and I am sure that in you too.
6 Therefore I advise you to fan the fire of the gift of God that is in you by the laying on of my hands.
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and self-control.
8 Therefore do not be ashamed to bear witness to our Lord, nor to me, his prisoner, but share in the afflictions for the gospel according to the power of God,
9 who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works , but according to his purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
10 but which has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who abolished death and brought life to light. and immortality through the gospel,
11 of which I was ordained a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
12 Therefore I also suffer this; but I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and I am sure that he is able to keep my deposit for that day.
13 Hold fast the form of the sound words that you heard from me, in the faith and love that is in Christ Jesus.
14 Keep the good deposit through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.
15 You know this, that all those who are in Asia have abandoned me, of whom are Phigellus and Hermogenes.
16 May the Lord have mercy on the house of Onesiphorus, for he often comforted me, and he was not ashamed of my chains,
17 but when he was in Rome, he sought me earnestly and found me.
18 May the Lord grant him that he may find mercy with the Lord on that day. And how much he helped us in Ephesus, you know best.
1 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2 What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust this to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
3 You, therefore, suffer hardships as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4 No one who fights gets involved in the affairs of life, in order to please him who took him as a soldier.
5 And also he who fights as an athlete, he is not crowned if he does not fight legitimately.
6 The farmer, to participate in the fruits, must first work.
7 Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in everything.
8 Remember Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, raised from the dead according to my gospel,
9 in which I suffer hardships, even imprisonment like an evildoer; but the word of God is not imprisoned.
10 Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, so that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11 This is a faithful word: If we are dead with him, we will also live with him;
12 If we suffer, we will also reign with him; If we deny him, he will deny us as well.
13 If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful; He can not deny himself.
14 Remind them of this, exhorting them before the Lord not to dispute about words, which is of no avail, but is to the destruction of those who hear.
15 Do your best to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, who rightly handles the word of truth.
16 But he avoids profane and vain talk, for it will lead more and more to ungodliness.
17 And his word will eat away like gangrene; of whom are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
18 who deviated from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and are disturbing the faith of some.
19 But the foundation of God is established, having this seal: The Lord knows those who are his; and: Let everyone who calls on the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a large house, there are not only utensils of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; and some are for honorable uses, and others for vile uses.
21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be an instrument for honor, sanctified, useful to the Lord, and prepared for every good work.
22 He also flees from youthful passions, and follows justice, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord with a pure heart.
23 But he rejects foolish and senseless questions, knowing that they breed strife.
24 For the servant of the Lord must not be contentious, but kind to all, able to teach, long-suffering;
25 May he gently correct those who oppose him, in case God may grant them repentance to know the truth,
26 and escape from the snare of the devil, in which they are held captive at his will.
1 You must also know this: that in the last days dangerous times will come.
2 For there will be men who are lovers of themselves, covetous, vainglorious, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, ungodly,
3 without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, intemperate, cruel, despisers of what is good,
4 traitors, impetuous, boastful , lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God,
5 who will have a form of godliness, but will deny the power of it; avoid these.
6 Because these are the ones who break into houses and take captive little women loaded with sins, carried away by various lusts.
7 These are always learning, and can never come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 And as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so they also resist the truth; men corrupt in understanding, reprobate in faith.
9 But they will not go further; because their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs was also.
10 But you have followed my doctrine, conduct, purpose, faith, long-suffering, love, patience,
11 persecutions, sufferings, such as those that overtook me in Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra; persecutions that I have suffered, and the Lord has delivered me from all of them.
12 And also all who want to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution;
13 But evil men and deceivers will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
14 But continue in what you have learned and are convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned;
15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness,
17 so that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
1 I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at his appearing and in his kingdom,
2 that you preach the word; that you urge in season and out of season; rebuke, rebuke, exhort with all patience and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but having itching ears, they will gather for themselves teachers according to their own lusts,
4 and they will turn away their ears from the truth and turn to fables.
5 But be sober in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
6 For I am ready to be sacrificed, and the time of my departure is near.
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
8 Finally, the crown of righteousness is laid up for me, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who love his coming.
9 Try to come quickly to see me,
10 because Demas has forsaken me, loving this world, and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescent went to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.
11 Only Lucas is with me. Take Marcos and bring him with you, because he is useful to me for the ministry.
12 I sent Tychicus to Ephesus.
13 He brings, when you come, the cloak that I left in Troas at Carpo’s house, and the books, especially the parchments.
14 Alexander the coppersmith has caused me many evils; The Lord will reward him according to his deeds.
15 Beware of him too, for he has greatly opposed our words.
16 In my first defense no one stood by me, but all forsook me; are not taken into account.
17 But the Lord was at my side, and he gave me strength, so that the preaching might be fulfilled through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth.
18 And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me for his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory forever and ever. Amen.
19 Greet Prisca and Aquila, and the house of Onesiphorus.
20 Erastus remained in Corinth, and I left Trophimus in Miletus sick.
21 Try to come before winter. Eubulo greets you, and Pudente, Lino, Claudia and all the brothers.
22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. May the grace be with you. Amen.
