1 All Israel was numbered by their genealogies, and they were written in the book of the kings of Israel. And those of Judah were transported to Babylon for their rebellion.
2 The first inhabitants to enter their possessions in the cities were Israelites, priests, Levites, and temple servants.

17 And the gatekeepers: Shallum, Akcub, Talmon, Ahiman, and his brothers. Shallum was the boss.
18 Until now, among the bands of the sons of Levi, these have been the gatekeepers at the king’s gate on the east.
19 Shallum the son of Korah, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brothers the Korahites for their father’s house, had charge of the work of the ministry, guarding the doors of the tabernacle, as their fathers guarded the entrance to the camp of Jehovah.
20 And Phinehas son of Eleazar was captain over them before; and the Lord was with him.
21 Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was the porter at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
22All these, chosen to guard the doors, were two hundred and twelve when they were counted by the order of their lineages in their towns, whom David and Samuel the seer appointed to their office.
23 So they and their sons were keepers in turn at the doors of the house of the Lord, and of the house of the tabernacle.
24 And there were the gatekeepers on the four sides; to the east, to the west, to the north and to the south.
25 And their brothers who were in their villages came every seven days according to their turn to be with them.
26 For four chief of the Levitical doorkeepers were in charge, and they had charge of the chambers and the treasures of the house of God.
27 These lived around the house of God, because they had the charge of guarding it, and of opening it every morning.
28 Some of these were in charge of the utensils for the ministry, which were put in by count, and taken out by count.
29 And others of them had charge of the dishes, and of all the utensils of the sanctuary, of the flour, of the wine, of the oil, of the incense and of the spices.
30 And some of the sons of the priests made the fragrant perfumes.
31 Mattathias, one of the Levites, the firstborn of Shallum the Korite, was in charge of the things that were made in the frying pan.
32 And some of Kohath’s sons and his brothers had charge of the shewbread, which they put in order on each Sabbath day.
33 There were also singers, heads of families of the Levites, who lived in the chambers of the temple, exempt from other services, because they were at that work day and night.
34 These were heads of families of the Levites by their families, leaders who lived in Jerusalem.
35 In Gibeon lived Jehiel the father of Gibeon, whose wife’s name was Maacah;
36 and his son his firstborn Abdon, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,

38 And Mikloth begat Shimeam. These also lived in Jerusalem with their brothers opposite them.
39 Ner begat Kish, Kish begat Saul, and Saul begat Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Es-baal.
40 Merib-baal was the son of Jonathan, and Merib-baal became the father of Micah.

44 And Azel had six sons, the names of whom are: Azricam, Bocru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah and Hanan. These were the sons of Azel.
1 The Philistines fought against Israel; and the Israelites fled before them, and fell wounded on Mount Gilboa.
2 And the Philistines followed Saul and his sons, and the Philistines killed Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchishua, Saul’s sons.
3 And when the battle against Saul raged, the archers overtook him, and he was wounded by the archers.
4 Then Saul said to his armor bearer, Draw your sword and pierce me with it, lest these uncircumcised men come and make fun of me; But his armor bearer did not want to, because he was very afraid. Then Saul took the sword and fell upon it.
5 When his armor bearer saw Saul dead, he also fell on his sword and killed himself.
6 So Saul and his three sons died; and all his house died with him.
7 And when all the Israelites who lived in the valley saw that they had fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they left their cities and fled, and the Philistines came and lived in them.
8 It happened the next day, when the Philistines came to plunder the dead, they found Saul and his sons lying on Mount Gilboa.
9 And when they had stripped him, they took his head and his weapons, and sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines to tell their idols and the people.
10 And they put their weapons in the temple of their gods, and hung their heads in the temple of Dagon.
11 And when all the people of Jabez Gilead heard what the Philistines had done to Saul,
12 all the mighty men arose, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabez; and they buried his bones under an oak in Jabez, and fasted seven days.
13 Thus Saul died because of his rebellion in which he transgressed against the Lord, against the word of the Lord, which he did not keep, and because he consulted a fortune teller,
14 and did not consult the Lord; For this cause he killed him, and transferred the kingdom to David son of Jesse.
1 Then all Israel gathered to David in Hebron, saying, Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.
2 Also before now, while Saul reigned, you were the one who led Israel out to war, and brought them back. The Lord your God has also said to you: You will shepherd my people Israel, and you will be prince over my people Israel.
3 And all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and David made a covenant with them before the Lord; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord through Samuel.
4 Then David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; and the Jebusites lived in that land.
5 And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not enter here. But David took the stronghold of Zion, which is the city of David.
6 And David had said: He who first defeats the Jebusites will be head and chief. Then Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made leader.
7 And David dwelt in the stronghold, and therefore they called it the City of David.
8 And he built the city all around, from Milo to the wall; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
9 And David advanced and grew, and the Lord of hosts was with him
10 These are the chief of the mighty men that David had, and those who helped him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord.
11 And this is the number of the mighty men that David had: Jasobeam the son of Hakmoni, leader of the thirty, who brandished his spear once against three hundred, whom he slew.
12 After him was Eleazar son of Dodo, an Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men.
13 This man was with David in Pasdamim, while the Philistines were there together in battle; And there was a plot of land full of barley, and the people fled before the Philistines,
14 and they stood in the middle of the plot and defended it, and defeated the Philistines, because the Lord favored them with a great victory.
15 And three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, to the cave of Adullam, while the camp of the Philistines was in the valley of Rephaim.
16 David was then in the fortress, and there was then a garrison of the Philistines in Bethlehem.
17 David then desired and said, Would that he would give me to drink of the waters of the well of Bethlehem, which is at the door!
18 And those three broke through the camp of the Philistines, and drew water from the well of Bethlehem, which is at the gate, and took it and brought it to David; but he would not drink it, but poured it out for Jehovah, and said:
19 May my God keep me from doing this. Should I drink the blood and life of these men, who have brought it at the risk of their lives? And he didn’t want to drink it. This is what those three brave men did.
20 And Abishai, Joab’s brother, was leader of the thirty, who brandished his spear against three hundred and killed them, and gained renown with the three.
21 He was the most illustrious of the thirty, and was their leader, but he was not equal to the first three.
22 Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a mighty man of Cabseel, of great deeds; he defeated the two lions of Moab; He also went down and killed a lion in the middle of a den, in snowy weather.
23 He himself defeated an Egyptian, a man five cubits tall; and the Egyptian had a spear like a weaver’s roller, but he came down with a staff, and snatched the spear from the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.
24 This Benaiah son of Jehoiada did, and he was named with the three mighty men.
25 And he was the most distinguished of the thirty, but he was not equal to the first three. David placed this one in his personal guard.
26 And the mighty men of the armies: Asael the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,
27 Samoth Harodite, Heles Pelonite;
28 Ira the son of Iches the Tekoite, Abiezer the Anathothite,
29 Sibecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,
30 Maharai the Netophatite, Heled the son of Baana the Netophatite,
31 Ittai the son of Ribai, of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Piratonite,
32 Hurai of the river Gaash, Abiel the Arbatite,
33 Azmavet the Barhumite, Eliaba the Shaalbonite,
34 the sons of Hasem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Sage the Ararite,
35 Ahijam the son of Sachar the Ararite, Eliphal the son of Ur,
36 Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelelite,
37 Hezro the Carmelite, Naarai the son of Ezbai ,
38 Joel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar the son of Hagrai,
39 Selech the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armor bearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,
40 Ira the Hittite, Gareb the Hittite,
41 Uriah the Hittite, Zabad the son of Ahlai,
42 Adina the son of Siza the Reubenite, prince of the Reubenites, and with him thirty,
43 Hanan the son of Maacah, Jehoshaphat the Mitite,
44 Uzziah the Ashtarothite, Shammah and Jehiel the sons of Hotam the Aroerite;
45 Jediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, a Tizite,
46 Eliel the Mahavite, Jerebai and Jehoshavia the sons of Elnaam, Itma the Moabite,
47 Eliel, Obed, and Jaasiel the Mesobaite.
1 These are those who came to David in Ziklag, while he was still imprisoned because of Saul the son of Kish, and they were of the mighty men who helped him in the war.
2 They were armed with bows, and they used both hands to throw stones with a sling and arrows with a bow. Of the brothers of Saul of Benjamin:
3 The chief Ahiezer, then Joash, sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite; Jeziel and Peleth sons of Azmaveth, Berach, Jehu the Anathothite,
4 Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, mighty among the thirty, and more than the thirty; Jeremiah, Jahaziel, Johanan, Jozabad the Gederathite,
5 Eluzai, Jerimoth, Bealiah, Shemariah, Shephatiah the Harufite,
6 Elkanah, Isiah, Azareel, Joezer and Jashhobeam, Korahites,
7 and Joelah and Zebadiah the sons of Jeroham the Gedorite.
8 They also fled from Gad and went to David, to the strong place in the desert, men of war very valiant to fight, skilled with shield and buckler; Their faces were like the faces of lions, and they were light as gazelles on the mountains.
9 Ezer the first, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third,
10 Mismanah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth,
11 Atai the sixth, Eliel the seventh,
12 Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth,
13 Jeremiah the tenth and Machbanai the eleventh.
14 These were captains of the army of the children of Gad. The youngest had charge of a hundred men, and the oldest of a thousand.
15 These crossed the Jordan in the first month, when it had overflowed all its banks; and they put to flight all those from the valleys to the east and to the west.
16 Likewise some of the sons of Benjamin and Judah came to David to the strong place.
17 And David went out to them, and spoke to them, saying, If you have come to me for peace and to help me, my heart will be united with you; But if it is to hand me over to my enemies, without iniquity being in my hands, let the God of our fathers see it, and demand it.
18 Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, leader of the thirty, and said, For thee, O David, and with thee, O son of Jesse. Peace, peace with you, and peace with your helpers, for your God also helps you. And David received them, and appointed them among the captains of the troop.
19 Some of Manasseh also defected to David, when he came with the Philistines to battle against Saul (but David did not help them, because the leaders of the Philistines, having taken counsel, sent him away, saying, At the peril of our heads he will defect to his lord Saul).
20 So when he came to Ziklag, Adnahs, Jozabad, Jediaiel, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Ziletai, princes of thousands of Manasseh, defected to him from those of Manasseh.
twenty-oneThese helped David against the band of marauders, for they were all mighty men, and were captains in the army.
22 For then help came to David every day, until a great army was formed, like the army of God.
23 And this is the number of the chiefs who were ready for war, and came to David at Hebron to transfer to him the kingdom of Saul, according to the word of the Lord:
24 Of the children of Judah who had shield and spear, six thousand eight hundred, ready for war.
25 Of the sons of Simeon, seven thousand one hundred men, mighty and mighty for war.
26 Of the sons of Levi, four thousand six hundred;
27 also Jehoiada, prince of Aaron’s lineage, and with him three thousand seven hundred,
28 and Zadok, a mighty and mighty young man, with twenty-two of the leaders of his father’s house.
29 Of the sons of Benjamin, Saul’s brothers, three thousand; because until then many of them remained faithful to the house of Saul.
30 Of the sons of Ephraim, twenty thousand eight hundred, very valiant, men of honor in the houses of their fathers.
31 Of the half tribe of Manasseh, eighteen thousand, who were taken ready to come and make David king.
32 Of the sons of Issachar, two hundred chief men, who understood the times, and who knew what Israel should do, whose saying all his brothers followed.
33 Of Zebulun fifty thousand, who went out into the field ready for war, with all kinds of weapons of war, ready to fight without double heart.
34 Of Naphtali, one thousand captains, and with them thirty-seven thousand with shield and spear.
35 Of those of Dan, ready to fight, twenty-eight thousand six hundred.
36 From Asher, prepared for war and prepared to fight, forty thousand.
37 And on the other side of the Jordan, of the Reubenites and Gadites and of the half tribe of Manasseh, one hundred and twenty thousand with all kinds of weapons of war.
38 All these men of war, ready to fight, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel; Likewise all the rest of Israel were of one mind to make David king.
39 And they were there with David three days eating and drinking, because his brothers had prepared for them.
40 Also their neighbors, as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought provisions on donkeys, camels, mules and oxen; provision of flour, fig cakes, raisins, wine and oil, and oxen and sheep in abundance, for there was joy in Israel.
1 Then David took counsel with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with all the leaders.
2 And David said to all the assembly of Israel, If it seems good to you and if it is the will of the Lord our God, we will send everywhere for our brothers who are left in all the lands of Israel, and for the priests and Levites who are with them in their cities and commons, so that they may join us;
3 and let us bring the ark of our God to us, for since the time of Saul we have not paid attention to it.
4 And he told the entire assembly to do so, because the thing seemed good to all the people.
5 Then David gathered all Israel, from Sihor of Egypt to the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriathjearim.
6 And David and all Israel went up to Baalah in Kiriath-jearim, which is in Judah, to bring over from there the ark of the Lord God, which dwells between the cherubim, upon which his name is called.
7 And they carried the ark of God from the house of Abinadab in a new cart; and Uzzah and Ahio guided the chariot.
8 And David and all Israel rejoiced before God with all their might, with songs, harps, psalteries, drums, cymbals, and trumpets.
9 But when they came to Chidon’s threshing floor, Uzzah stretched out his hand to the ark to support it, because the oxen were stumbling.
10 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah, and he smote him, because he had stretched out his hand to the ark; and he died there before God.
11 And David was grieved, because the LORD had broken Uzzah; for what he called that place Pérez-uza, until today.
12 And David feared God that day, and said, How shall I bring the ark of God into my house?
13 And David did not bring the ark to his house in the city of David, but he brought it to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
14 And the ark of God was with the family of Obed-edom, in his house, three months; and the LORD blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that he had.
1 Hiram king of Tire sent ambassadors to David, and cedar wood, and masons and carpenters, to build him a house.
2 And David understood that the LORD had established him as king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom over his people Israel.
3 Then David also took wives in Jerusalem, and David fathered more sons and daughters.
4 And these are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Samua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,
6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,
7 Elishama, Beeliada and Eliphelet.
8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And when David heard it, he went out against them.
9 And the Philistines came and spread throughout the valley of Rephaim.
10 Then David inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand? And the LORD said to him, Go up, for I will deliver them into your hands.
11 So they went up to Baal-perazim, and David defeated them there. Then David said: God broke my enemies by my hand, as waters break. For this reason they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.
12 And they left their gods there, and David told them to burn them.
13 And the Philistines returned to spread out into the valley,
14 David inquired of God again, and God said to him, Do not go up after them, but go around them, to come to them before the balsam trees.
15 And as soon as you hear a noise coming from the tops of the balsam trees, go out immediately to battle, because God will go out before you and will strike down the army of the Philistines.
16 So David did as God commanded him, and they defeated the army of the Philistines from Gibeon to Gezer.
17 And the fame of David spread throughout all those lands; and the LORD put the fear of David upon all the nations.
1 David also made houses for himself in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched a tent for it.
2 Then David said, The ark of God must not be carried except by the Levites; for the LORD has chosen them to bear the ark of the LORD, and to serve him forever.
3 And David gathered all Israel to Jerusalem, to bring the ark of the Lord to his place, which he had prepared for it.
4 David also gathered the sons of Aaron and the Levites;
5 of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and his brothers, one hundred and twenty.
6 Of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred and twenty.
7 Of the sons of Gershom, Joel was the chief, and his brothers were one hundred and thirty.
8 Of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah was the chief, and his brothers were two hundred.
9 Of the sons of Hebron, Eliel was the chief, and his brothers were eighty.
10 Of the sons of Uzziel, Aminadab was the chief, and his brothers were one hundred and twelve.
11 And David called the priests Zadok and Abiathar, and the Levites Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Aminadab,
12 and said to them, You who are the chief fathers of the families of the Levites, sanctify yourselves, you and your brothers. , and bring the ark of the Lord God of Israel to the place that I have prepared for it;
13 For because you did not do so the first time, the Lord our God broke us, because we did not seek him according to his ordinance.
14 So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring the ark of the Lord God of Israel.
15 And the sons of the Levites brought the ark of God, placed on their shoulders on the bars, as Moses had commanded, according to the word of the Lord.
16 David also told the leaders of the Levites to appoint from their brothers singers with musical instruments, with psalteries and harps and cymbals, who would resound and raise their voices for joy.
17 And the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brothers, Asaph son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari and his brothers, Ethan the son of Cusaiah.
18 And with them their brothers of the second order, Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Uni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattathias, Eliphelehu, Michniah, Obed-edom and Jeiel, the gatekeepers.
19 So Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, who were singers, sounded bronze cymbals.
20 And Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Uni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalters about Alamoth.
21 Mattathias, Eliphelehu, Michniah, Obed-edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah had harps tuned to the octave to conduct.
22 And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites in music, was appointed to lead the singing, because he was knowledgeable in it.
23 Berechiah and Elkanah were porters of the ark.
24 And Shebaniah, Jehoshaphat, Nathanael, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer, priests, blew the trumpets before the ark of God; Obed-edom and Jehiiah were also keepers of the ark.
25 So David and the elders of Israel and the captains of thousands went to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord from the house of Obed-edom with joy.
26 And God helping the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.
27 And David was clothed in fine linen, and also all the Levites that carried the ark, and also the singers; and Chenaniah was a singing teacher among the singers. David also had a linen ephod on him.
28 In this way all Israel carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, with joy and the sound of trumpets and trumpets and cymbals, and with the sound of psalteries and harps.
29 But when the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, Michal, Saul’s daughter, looking out of a window, saw King David leaping and dancing; and she despised him in her heart.
1 So they brought the ark of God, and placed it in the middle of the tent that David had pitched for it; and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.
2 And when David had finished offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord.
3 And he distributed to all Israel, both to men and women, to each one a cake of bread, a piece of meat, and a cake of raisins.
4 And he placed ministers of the Levites before the ark of the LORD, to remember and confess and praise the LORD God of Israel:
5 Asaph the first; the second after him, Zechariah; Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattathias, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom and Jeiel, with their instruments of psalteries and harps; but Asaph sounded the cymbals.
6 Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests also sounded the trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.
7 Then on that day David began to praise the Lord by the hand of Asaph and his brothers:
8 Praise the Lord, call on his name, make his works known among the people.
9 Sing to him, sing psalms to him; Talk about all the wonders of him.
10 Glory in his holy name; Let the hearts of those who seek Jehovah be glad.
11 Seek the Lord and his power; Seek his face continually.
12 Remember the wonders that he has done, the wonders of him, and the judgments of his mouth,
13 O you children of Israel, his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones.
14 Jehovah, he is our God; His judgments are in all the earth.
15 He remembers his covenant forever, And the word which he commanded for a thousand generations;
16 Of the covenant that he made with Abraham, and of his oath to Isaac;
17 Who established Jacob for a statute, and Israel for an everlasting covenant,
18 Saying, To you I will give the land of Canaan, a portion of your inheritance.
19 When they were few in number, Few and strangers in it,
20 And they went from nation to nation, And from one kingdom to another people,
21 He did not allow anyone to oppress them; Before, for their love, he punished the kings.
22 Touch not, he said, my anointed, Nor do harm to my prophets.
23 Sing to the LORD all the earth, proclaim his salvation day by day.
24 Sing his glory among the nations, and his wonders among all peoples.
25 For great is the Lord, and worthy of supreme praise, and to be feared above all gods.
26 For all the gods of the people are idols; But the Lord made the heavens.
27 Praise and magnificence before him; Power and joy in his abode.
28 Pay tribute to the LORD, O families of the people, Give to the LORD glory and power.
29 Give to Jehovah the honor due to his name; Bring an offering, and come before him; Bow down before Jehovah in the beauty of holiness.
30 Fear his presence, all the earth; The world will still be established, so that it will not be shaken.
31 Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice, And let the nations say, The Lord reigneth.
32 Let the sea resound, and its fullness; Rejoice the field, and all that it contains.
33 Then the trees of the forest will sing before the Lord, For he is coming to judge the earth.
34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; Because his mercy is eternal.
35 And say: Save us, O God, our salvation; Gather us, and deliver us from the nations, That we may confess your holy name, And glory in your praises.
36 Blessed be Jehovah, God of Israel, from eternity to eternity. And all the people said, Amen,
37 And he left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to minister continually before the ark, each in its day;
38 and Obed-edom and his sixty-eight brothers; and Obed-edom son of Jeduthun and Hosa as gatekeepers.
39 Likewise to Zadok the priest, and to his brother priests, before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place that was in Gibeon,
40 to sacrifice continually, morning and evening, burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar of burnt offering, according to all which is written in the law of the Lord, which he commanded Israel;
41 and with them Heman, Jeduthun, and the other chosen ones declared by his name, to glorify the Lord, for his mercy endures forever.
42 With them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those who played, and with other instruments of music from God; and the sons of Jeduthun for gatekeepers.
43 And all the people went, each one to his house; and David returned to bless his house.
1 Now it came to pass, as David was dwelling in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Behold, I dwell in a house of cedar, and the ark of the covenant of the LORD under curtains.
2 And Nathan said to David, Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you.
3 That same night the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
4 Go and tell David my servant, Thus says the Lord: You shall not build me a house to live in.
5 For I have not lived in any house from the day I brought out the children of Israel until this day; but I went from tent to tent, and from tabernacle to tabernacle.
6 Wherever I went with all Israel, did I speak a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd my people, saying, “Why don’t you build me a house of cedar?”
7 Therefore now you shall say to my servant David, Thus says the LORD of hosts: I took you from the fold, from behind the sheep, to be prince over my people Israel;
8 And I have been with you in all that you have walked, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you, and I will make you a great name, like the name of the great ones in the earth.
9 Likewise I have prepared a place for my people Israel, and have planted them so that they may dwell therein and be moved no more; nor will the children of iniquity consume it any more, as before,
10 and from the time that I set judges over my people Israel; but I will humble all your enemies. I also let you know that the Lord will build you a house.
11 And when your days are fulfilled for you to go to your fathers, I will raise up descendants after you, one of your sons, and I will establish his kingdom.
12 He will build my house, and I will establish his throne forever.
13 I will be his father, and he will be my son; and I will not take away my mercy from him, as I took it from him who was before you;
14 but I will establish him in my house and in my kingdom forever, and his throne will be established forever.
15 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, thus spoke Nathan to David.
16 And King David entered and stood before the LORD, and said, LORD God, who am I, and what is my house, that thou hast brought me unto this place?
17 And even this, O God, seemed little to you, since you have spoken of the house of your servant for a more distant time, and you have regarded me as an excellent man, O Jehovah God.
18 What more can David ask of you to add to glorify your servant? But you know your servant.
19 O Lord, for the love of your servant and according to your heart, you have done all this greatness, to make known all your greatness.
20 Jehovah, there is no one like you, nor is there any God but you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
21 And what people is there on earth like your people Israel, whose God was and redeemed himself a people, to make your name with greatness and wonders, driving out the nations before your people, whom you rescued from Egypt?
22 You have made your people Israel your people forever; and you, Jehovah, have become their God.
23 Now therefore, Jehovah, let the word that you have spoken concerning your servant and his house stand forever, and do as you have said.
24 Therefore let your name remain and be magnified forever, so that it may be said: Jehovah of hosts, God of Israel, is God to Israel. And let the house of your servant David be established before you.
25 For you, my God, revealed to your servant that you are going to build him a house; That is why your servant has found reason to pray before you.
26 Now therefore, Jehovah, you are the God who has spoken this good of your servant;
27 and now you have wanted to bless the house of your servant, so that he may remain before you forever; for you, Jehovah, have blessed it, and it will be blessed forever.
1 After these things it came to pass that David defeated the Philistines, and humbled them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines.
2 He also defeated Moab, and the Moabites were David’s servants, bringing him gifts.
3 David also defeated Hadad-ezer king of Zobah at Hamath, and he went to secure his dominion by the river Euphrates.
4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; And David hamstrung the horses of all the chariots, except those of the hundred chariots which he left behind.
5 And when the Syrians from Damascus came to the aid of Hadad-ezer king of Zobah, David smote of them twenty-two thousand men.
6 And David placed a garrison in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became servants to David, bringing him gifts; because Jehovah gave David victory wherever he went.
7 David also took the golden shields that Hadadezer’s servants were carrying, and brought them to Jerusalem.
8 Likewise from Tibhat and Cun, cities of Hadad-ezer, David took a great deal of bronze, with which Solomon made the bronze sea, the pillars, and bronze utensils.
9 And when Toi king of Hamath heard that David had destroyed all the army of Hadad-ezer king of Zobah,
10 he sent Adoram his son to king David, to greet him and bless him for having fought with Hadad-ezer and having defeated him; for Toi had war against Hadadezer. He also sent him all kinds of gold, silver and bronze utensils;
11 Which King David dedicated to the Lord, with the silver and gold that he had taken from all the nations of Edom, Moab, the children of Ammon, the Philistines, and Amalek.
12 In addition to this, Abishai son of Zeruiah destroyed eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
13 And he garrisoned Edom, and all the Edomites were servants to David; because Jehovah gave David victory wherever he went.
14 David reigned over all Israel, and judged all his people with justice.
15 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was general of the army, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was chancellor.
16 Zadok son of Ahitob and Abimelech son of Abiathar were priests, and Shavsha was secretary.
17 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and Pelethites; and the sons of David were princes near the king.
1 After these things it came to pass that Nahas king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his place.
2 And David said, I will show mercy to Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father also showed me mercy. So David sent ambassadors to console him about the death of his father. But when David’s servants came to the land of the children of Ammon to comfort Hanun,
3 the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Do you think David honors your father, who has sent you comforters? Do not his servants rather come to you to spy, and to inquire, and to search out the land?
4 Then Hanun took David’s servants and shaved them, and cut their clothes in half, down to the buttocks, and sent them away.
5 They then left, and when the news about those men reached David, he sent to meet them, because they were very disgraced. The king ordered them to say: Stay in Jericho until your beard grows, and then you will return.
6 And when the children of Ammon saw that they had become hateful to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire chariots and horsemen from Mesopotamia, Syria, Maacah, and Zobah.
7 And they hired thirty-two thousand chariots, and the king of Maacah and his army, who came and camped before Medeba. And the children of Ammon also gathered together from their cities, and came to war.
8 When David heard it, he sent Joab with all the army of mighty men.
9 And the children of Ammon went out, and arrayed the battle at the entrance of the city; and the kings who had come were apart in the field.
10 And when Joab saw that the attack against him had been arranged from the front and from the rear, he chose some of the most advantageous that were in Israel, and with them he commanded his army against the Syrians.
11 Then he put the rest of the people into the hand of Abishai his brother, and commanded them to battle against the Ammonites.
12 And he said, If the Syrians are stronger than me, you will help me; And if the Ammonites are stronger than you, I will help you.
13 Be strong, and let us be strong for our people, and for the cities of our God; and Jehovah do what seems good to him.
14 Then Joab and the people he had with him approached to fight against the Syrians; but they fled before him.
15 And the children of Ammon, seeing that the Syrians had fled, fled before Abishai their brother, and entered the city. Then Joab returned to Jerusalem.
16 When the Syrians saw that they had fallen before Israel, they sent ambassadors and brought the Syrians who were beyond the Euphrates, whose captain was Sophach, general of the army of Hadadezer.
17 After he had been told to David, he gathered all Israel, and crossed the Jordan, and came to them, and ordered battle against them. And when David had commanded his troops against them, the Syrians fought against him.
18 But the Syrian people fled before Israel; And David killed of the Syrians seven thousand chariot men, and forty thousand foot men; Likewise he killed Sophach, general of the army.
19 And when the servants of Hadadezer saw that they had fallen before Israel, they made peace with David, and became his servants; and the Syrian people never again wanted to help the children of Ammon.
1 It came to pass at the turn of the year, at the time when kings usually go out to war, that Joab brought out the forces of the army, and destroyed the land of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David was in Jerusalem; and Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it.
2 And David took the crown from the head of the king of Rabbah, and found it weighing a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was placed on David’s head. In addition to this he took very large plunder from the city.
3 He also brought out the people who were in it, and put them to work with saws, with iron threshers, and with axes. David did the same to all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David returned with all the people to Jerusalem.
4 After this it came to pass that war arose in Gezer against the Philistines; and Sibecai the Hushathite killed Sipai, of the descendants of the giants; and they were humiliated.
5 War broke out again against the Philistines; and Elhanan son of Jair slew Lahmi, brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear shaft was like a loom’s roller.
6 And there was war again in Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had six toes on his feet and on his hands, twenty-four on all of them; and he was a descendant of the giants.
7 This man reviled Israel, but Jonathan the son of Shimea, David’s brother, killed him.
8 These were descendants of the giants in Gath, who fell by the hand of David and his servants.
1 But Satan rose up against Israel, and incited David to take a census of Israel.
2 And David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, Go, take a census of Israel from Beersheba to Dan, and report to me the number of them so that I may know.
3 And Joab said, Let the Lord add to his people a hundred times more, my lord king; Are not all these servants of my lord? Why does my lord seek this, since it will be a sin for Israel?
4 But the king’s command prevailed over Joab. Therefore Joab went out and went through all Israel, and returned to Jerusalem and gave an account of the number of the people to David.
5 And there were in all Israel one million one hundred thousand that drew the sword, and of Judah four hundred and seventy thousand men that drew the sword.
6 Among these were not counted the Levites, nor the sons of Benjamin, because the king’s command was abominable to Joab.
7 Likewise this displeased God, and it hurt Israel.
8 Then David said to God, “I have sinned gravely by doing this; I beg you to take away the iniquity of your servant, for I have done very foolishly.
9 And the LORD spoke to Gad, David’s seer, saying,
10 Go and speak to David, and say to him, Thus says the LORD: Three things I propose to you; Choose one of them that I will do with you.
11 And Gad came to David and said to him, Thus says the LORD:
12 Choose for yourself: either three years of famine, or for three months to be defeated before your enemies with the sword of your adversaries, or for three days the sword of Jehovah, that is, pestilence in the land, and may the angel of Jehovah make destruction in all the borders of Israel. See, then, what I will answer to him whom he has sent me.
13 Then David said to Gad, I am in great distress. I pray that I may fall into the hand of the Lord, for his mercies are exceedingly many; but let him not fall into the hands of men.
14 So the LORD sent a plague on Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel died.
15 And the LORD sent the angel to Jerusalem to destroy it; But when he was destroying, the Lord looked and repented of that evil, and said to the angel who was destroying: Enough is enough; stop your hand The angel of the LORD stood by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
16 And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD, standing between heaven and earth, with a drawn sword in his hand, stretched out against Jerusalem. Then David and the elders fell on his faces, covered with sackcloth.
17And David said to God, Am I not the one who numbered the people? I myself am the one who sinned, and I have certainly done wrong; but these sheep, what have they done? O Lord my God, let your hand now be against me, and against my father’s house, and let no pestilence come upon your people.
18 And the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to tell David to go up and build an altar to the LORD in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
19 Then David went up, according to the word that Gad had spoken to him in the name of Jehovah.
20 And Ornan turned and saw the angel, so four of his sons who were with him hid themselves. And Ornan threshed the wheat.
21 And David came to Ornan, and Ornan looked, and saw David; and coming out of the threshing floor, he fell to the ground before David.
22 Then David said to Ornan, Give me this place of the threshing floor, that I may build an altar to the Lord; Give it to me for its full price, so that the mortality in the town may cease.
23 And Ornan said to David, Take it for yourself, and let my lord the king do as he pleases; and I will even give the oxen for a burnt offering, and the threshing floors for firewood, and wheat for an offering; I give everything.
24 Then King David said to Ornan, No, but I will indeed buy it for its fair price; for I will not take to the Lord what is yours, nor will I sacrifice a burnt offering that costs me nothing.
25 And David gave to Ornan for that place the weight of six hundred shekels of gold.
26 And David built there an altar to the LORD, on which he offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD, who answered him by fire from heaven on the altar of burnt offering.
27 Then the LORD spoke to the angel, and he returned his sword to its sheath.
28 When David saw that the LORD had heard him on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, he offered sacrifices there.
29 And the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses had made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering, were then in the high place of Gibeon;
30 But David could not go there to consult God, because he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the Lord.
1 And David said, Here will be the house of the Lord God, and here will be the altar of burnt offering for Israel.
2 Then David commanded the foreigners who were in the land of Israel to be gathered together, and appointed stonemasons among them to cut stones to build the house of God.
3 David also prepared much iron for nailing the doors and for the joints; and much bronze without weight, and cedar wood without count.
4 For the Sidonians and Tyrians had brought David an abundance of cedar wood.
5 And David said, Solomon my son is young and of tender age, and the house that is to be built for the Lord must be magnificent beyond excellence, for renown and honor in all lands; Now, therefore, I will prepare what is necessary for him. And David before his death made preparations in great abundance.
6 Then David called his son Solomon and commanded him to build a house for the Lord God of Israel.
7 And David said to Solomon, My son, it was in my heart to build a temple to the name of the Lord my God.
8 But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, You have shed much blood, and have made great wars; You will not build a house for my name, because you have shed much blood on the land before me.
9 Behold, a son will be born to you, who will be a man of peace, for I will give him peace from all his enemies around him; therefore his name will be Solomon, and I will give peace and rest to Israel in his days.
10 He will build a house for my name, and he will be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.
11 Now therefore, my son, may the Lord be with you, and that you may prosper, and build a house for the Lord your God, as he has said of you.
12 And the LORD give you understanding and prudence, so that when you govern Israel, you will keep the law of the LORD your God.
13 Then you will prosper, if you take care to carry out the statutes and decrees that the Lord commanded Moses for Israel. Be strong, then, and take heart; do not fear, nor be dismayed.
14 Behold, with great labor I have prepared for the house of the Lord one hundred thousand talents of gold, and a million talents of silver, and bronze, and iron without measure, for it is much. Likewise I have prepared wood and stone, to which you will add.
15 You have with you many workers, stonemasons, bricklayers, carpenters, and every man skilled in all work.
16 Of gold, silver, bronze and iron, there is no account. Get up, and get to work; and the Lord be with you.
17 David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help his son Solomon, saying,
18 Is not the Lord your God with you, who has given you peace everywhere? For he has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land has been subdued before the Lord, and before his people.
19 Therefore now set your hearts and your spirits to seek the Lord your God; and arise, and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the vessels consecrated to God, into the house built for the name of the Lord.
1 So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
2 And gathering together all the leaders of Israel, and the priests and Levites,
3 the Levites from thirty years old and upward were numbered; and the number of them by their heads, counted one by one, was thirty-eight thousand.
4 Of these, twenty-four thousand to direct the work of the house of Jehovah, and six thousand for governors and judges.
5 Furthermore, four thousand porters, and four thousand to praise the Lord, said David, with the instruments that I have made to give praise.
6 And David divided them into groups according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
7 The sons of Gershom: Laadan and Shimei.
8 The sons of Laadan were three: Jehiel the first, then Zetham and Joel.
9 The sons of Shimei were three: Shelomith, Haziel, and Haran. These were the heads of the families of Laadan.
10 And the sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, Jeush and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.
11 Jahat was the first, and Zina the second; But Jeush and Beriah did not have many children, so they were counted as a family.
12 The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel, four of them.
13 The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. And Aaron was set apart to be dedicated to the most holy things, he and his sons forever, to burn incense before the Lord, and minister to him and bless him in his name forever.
14 And the sons of Moses the man of God were numbered in the tribe of Levi.
15 The sons of Moses were Gershom and Eliezer.
16 The son of Gershom was Shebuel the leader.
17 And the son of Eliezer was Rehabiah the leader. And Eliezer had no other children; but the sons of Rehabiah were many.
18 The son of Izhar was Shelomith the leader.
19 The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekaman the fourth.
20 The sons of Uzziel: Micaiah the chief, and Isiah the second.
21 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Musi. Mahli’s sons: Eleazar and Kish.
22 And Eleazar died without children; But he had daughters, and the sons of Kish, his relatives, took them as wives.
23 The sons of Musi: Mahli, Edar, and Jeremot, the three of them.
24 These are the sons of Levi in the families of his fathers, heads of families according to their census, numbered by their names, by their heads, from twenty years old and up, who worked in the ministry of the house of the LORD. .
25 For David said, The Lord God of Israel has given peace to his people Israel, and he will dwell in Jerusalem forever.
26 And also the Levites will no longer have to carry the tabernacle and all the utensils for their ministry.
27 So, according to the last words of David, the number of the sons of Levi from twenty years old and upward was made.
28 And they were under the command of the sons of Aaron to minister in the house of the Lord, in the courts, in the chambers, and in the purification of every sanctified thing, and in the rest of the work of the ministry of the house of God.
29 Likewise for shewbread, for fine flour for sacrifice, for unleavened flakes, for things prepared in a frying pan, for things roasted, and for every measure and account;
30 and to attend every morning every day to give thanks and praise to Jehovah, and likewise in the evening;
31 and to offer all burnt offerings to the LORD on the Sabbaths, new moons, and feasts, according to their number and according to his ordinance, continually before the LORD;
32 and to keep the tabernacle of the congregation, and to keep the sanctuary, under the orders of Aaron’s sons, his brothers, in the ministry of the house of the Lord.
1 Aaron’s sons were also divided into groups. Aaron’s sons: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
2 But since Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children, Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests.
3 And David, with Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, divided them into their courses in the ministry.

33 Ahithophel also was a counselor to the king, and Hushai the Archite was a friend of the king.
34 After Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar. And Joab was the general of the king’s army.
1 David gathered together in Jerusalem all the princes of Israel, the heads of the tribes, the heads of the divisions that served the king, the heads of thousands and hundreds, the administrators of all the property and possession of the king and his sons. , and the officers and the most powerful and brave of their men.
2 And King David stood up and said, Hear me, my brothers and my people. I intended to build a house in which to rest the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for the footstool of our God; and he had already prepared everything to build.
3 But God said to me: You will not build a house for my name, because you are a man of war, and you have shed much blood.
4 But the LORD God of Israel chose me from all my father’s house to be king over Israel forever; for he chose Judah as leader, and from the house of Judah my father’s family; and he was pleased with me from among my father’s sons to make me king over all Israel.
5 And among all my sons (for the Lord has given me many sons), he chose my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.
6 And he said to me, Solomon your son, he will build my house and my courts; for I have chosen this one to be a son, and I will be his father.
7 Likewise I will establish his kingdom forever, if he strives to do my commandments and my decrees, as on this day.
8 Now therefore, in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the Lord, and in the ears of our God, keep and inquire into all the commandments of the Lord your God, that you may possess the good land, and leave it as an inheritance to your children afterwards. of you perpetually.
9 And you, Solomon my son, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and a willing mind; for the Lord searches the hearts of all, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you look for him, you will find him; but if you leave him, he will reject you forever.
10 See therefore now, that the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; make an effort, and do it.
11 And David gave to Solomon his son the plan of the porch of the temple and its houses, its treasuries, its chambers, its chambers and the house of the mercy seat.
12 Likewise the plan of all the things that he had in mind for the courts of the house of the Lord, for all the chambers around it, for the treasuries of the house of God, and for the treasuries of the sanctified things.
13 Also for the groups of the priests and the Levites, for all the work of the ministry of the house of Jehovah, and for all the utensils of the ministry of the house of Jehovah.
14And he gave gold by weight for the things of gold, for all the utensils of each service, and silver by weight for all the things of silver, for all the utensils of each service.
15 Gold by weight for the golden lampstands, and for their lamps; by weight the gold for each lampstand and its lamps; and for the silver lampstands, silver by weight for each lampstand and its lamps, according to the service of each lampstand.
16 He also gave gold by weight for the shew tables, for each table; likewise silver for silver tables.
17 He also made pure gold for the hooks, for the basins, for the cups and for the golden cups; for each cup by weight; and for silver cups, by weight for each cup.
18 Furthermore, pure gold by weight for the altar of incense, and for the chariot of the golden cherubim, which with outstretched wings covered the ark of the covenant of the Lord.
19 All these things, David said, were laid out for me by the hand of the Lord, who made me understand all the works of the design.
20 David also said to his son Solomon, Be encouraged and strong, and get to work; Do not fear or be dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, will be with you; He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you finish all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.
21 Behold, the groups of priests and Levites, for all the ministry of the house of God, will be with you in all the work; likewise all the volunteers and intelligent for every form of service, and the princes, and all the people to execute all your orders.
1 Then King David said to the whole assembly, “God has chosen Solomon my son only; He is young and tender in age, and the work is great; for the house is not for man, but for Jehovah God.
2 With all my strength I have prepared for the house of my God, gold for things of gold, silver for things of silver, bronze for things of bronze, iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; and onyx stones, precious stones, black stones, stones of various colors, and all kinds of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.
3 Furthermore, because I have my affection in the house of my God, I store up in my private treasure gold and silver, which, in addition to all the things that I have prepared for the house of the sanctuary, I have given for the house of my God :
4 three thousand talents of gold, of Ophir gold, and seven thousand talents of refined silver to cover the walls of the houses;
5 So gold for things of gold, and silver for things of silver, and for all the work of the craftsmen’s hands. And who wants to make a voluntary offering to Jehovah today?
6 Then the heads of families, and the princes of the tribes of Israel, heads of thousands and hundreds, with the stewards of the king’s estate, offered voluntarily.
7 And they gave for the service of the house of God five thousand talents and ten thousand drachmas of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, eighteen thousand talents of bronze, and five thousand talents of iron.
8 And everyone who had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the Lord, into the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.
9 And the people rejoiced because they had contributed voluntarily; for they offered to Jehovah willingly with all their heart.
10 Likewise King David was very glad, and blessed Jehovah before all the congregation; And David said, Blessed be you, O Lord, God of Israel our father, from everlasting to everlasting.
11 Yours, O Jehovah, is magnificence and power, glory, victory and honor; for all things that are in heaven and on earth are yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom, and you are exalted above all.
12 Riches and glory come from you, and you rule over everything; In your hand is strength and power, and in your hand to make great and give power to all.
13 Now therefore, our God, we praise and praise your glorious name.
14 For who am I, and who are my people, that we could willingly offer such things? For everything is yours, and we give to you what we receive from your hand.
fifteenFor we are strangers and foreigners before you, like all our fathers; and our days on earth, like a shadow that does not last.
16 O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build a house for your holy name is from your hand, and it is all yours.
17 I know, my God, that you search hearts, and that righteousness pleases you; That is why I, with uprightness of my heart, have voluntarily offered you all this, and now I have seen with joy that your people, gathered here now, have spontaneously given to you.
18 Jehovah, God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel our fathers, preserve forever this will of the hearts of your people, and direct their hearts to you.
19 Likewise give my son Solomon a perfect heart, that he may keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, and that he may do all things, and build you the house for which I have made preparations.
20 Then David said to all the congregation: Now bless the Lord your God. Then the whole congregation blessed Jehovah God of his fathers, and they bowed down and worshiped before Jehovah and the king.
21 And they sacrificed victims to the LORD, and offered burnt offerings to the LORD on the next day; a thousand calves, a thousand rams, a thousand lambs with their drink offerings, and many sacrifices from all Israel.
22 And they ate and drank before the Lord that day with great joy; and they gave the investiture of the kingdom for the second time to Solomon the son of David, and before the Lord they anointed him prince, and Zadok priest.
23 And Solomon sat king on the throne of the Lord in the place of David his father, and he prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.
24 And all the princes and mighty men, and all the sons of King David, paid homage to King Solomon.
25 And the LORD greatly exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel, and gave him such glory in his kingdom as no king had before him in Israel.
26 So David son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.
27 The time that he reigned over Israel was forty years. He reigned seven years in Hebron, and thirty-three he reigned in Jerusalem.
28 And he died at a good old age, full of days, riches and glory; and Solomon his son reigned in his place.
29 And the acts of King David, first and last, are written in the book of the chronicles of Samuel the seer, in the chronicles of Nathan the prophet, and in the chronicles of Gad the seer,
30 with all that pertains to his reign, and his power, and the times that passed over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of those lands.
