1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by command of God our Savior, and of the Lord Jesus Christ our hope,
2 to Timothy, true son in the faith: Grace, mercy and peace, from God our Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 Just as I begged you to stay in Ephesus when I went to Macedonia, so that you would command some not to teach different doctrine,
4 nor to pay attention to fables and endless genealogies, which lead to disputes rather than the edification of God which is by faith, That’s how I order you now.
5 For the purpose of this commandment is love born of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of unfeigned faith,
6 from which things, some deviating, they turned away to vain talk,
7 wanting to be doctors of the law, without understanding neither what they speak nor what they affirm.
8 But we know that the law is good, if a man uses it lawfully;
9 Knowing this, that the law was not given for the righteous, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the irreverent and profane, for parricides and matricides, for murderers,
10 for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars and perjurers, and for everything that opposes sound doctrine,
11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which has been entrusted to me.
12 I give thanks to him who strengthened me, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry,
13 although I was once a blasphemer, a persecutor, and a reviler; but I was received with mercy because I did it out of ignorance, in unbelief.
14 But the grace of our Lord was more abundant with the faith and love that is in Christ Jesus.
15 A faithful word worthy of being received by all: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the first.
16 But for this reason I was received into mercy, so that Jesus Christ might first show in me all his clemency, as an example to those who would believe in him for eternal life.
17 Therefore to the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, to the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
18 This commandment, my son Timothy, I charge you, so that according to the prophecies that were made before concerning you, you may fight the good war by them,
19 maintaining the faith and a good conscience, rejecting which some have made shipwreck of the faith. ,
20 of whom are Hymenaeus
1 I exhort above all, that rogations, prayers, petitions and thanksgivings be made for all men;
2 for kings and for all those who are in eminence, so that we may live quietly and peacefully in all piety and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4 who wants all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ,
6 who gave himself a ransom for all, which was witnessed in due time of him.
7 For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth in Christ, I do not lie), and a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8 Therefore I want men to pray in every place, lifting up holy hands, without anger or strife.
9 Likewise, women should adorn themselves with decent clothing, with modesty and modesty; not with ostentatious hair, nor gold, nor pearls, nor expensive clothing,
10 but with good works, as befits women who profess godliness.
11 Let the woman learn in silence, with all subjection.
12 For I do not permit a woman to teach, nor to exercise dominion over a man, but to be silent.
13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve;
14 and Adam was not deceived, but the woman, being deceived, transgressed.
15 But she will be saved by bearing children, if she continues in faith, love and sanctification, with modesty.
1 Faithful word: If anyone desires the bishopric, he desires a good work.
2 But the bishop must be blameless, the husband of one wife, sober, prudent, decent, hospitable, able to teach;
3 He is not given to wine, not quarrelsome, not greedy for dishonest gain, but kind, gentle, not covetous;
4 Let him govern his house well, and have his children in subjection with all honesty
5 (for he who does not know how to govern his own house, how will he care for the church of God?);
6 not a neophyte, lest he become conceited and fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7 It is also necessary that he have a good report from outsiders, so that he does not fall into disrepute and into the snare of the devil.
8 Deacons likewise must be honest, without duplicity, not given to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain;
9 that they keep the mystery of faith with a clear conscience.
10 And these also be put to the test first, and then exercise the diaconate, if they are blameless.
11 Let women also be honest, not slanderers, but sober, faithful in everything.
12 Let the deacons be husbands of one wife, and let them govern their children and their houses well.
13 For those who exercise the diaconate well gain for themselves an honorable degree and great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.
14 I write this to you, although I hope to come to you soon,
15 so that if I delay, you will know how you should conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bastion of the truth.
16 And without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed in the world, Received up in glory.
1 But the Spirit clearly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons;
2 because of the hypocrisy of liars who, having their conscience seared,
3 will prohibit marriage, and will order abstaining from foods that God created so that believers and those who have known the truth could partake of them with thanksgiving.
4 For everything that God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving;
5 because by the word of God and by prayer he is sanctified.
6 If you teach this to your brothers, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished by the words of faith and the good doctrine that you have followed.
7 Throw away profane and old wives’ fables. Exercise for piety;
8 For physical exercise is profitable for little, but godliness is profitable for all things, for it has promise of this present life, and of the life to come.
9 This is a faithful word, and worthy of being received by all.
10 for this very reason we labor and suffer reproaches, because we hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.
11 This commands and teaches.
12 Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, conduct, love, spirit, faith and purity.
13 While I go, occupy yourself with reading, exhortation, and teaching.
14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you through prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15 Take care of these things; abide in them, so that your advantage may be manifest to all.
16 Take care of yourself and of doctrine; persist in it, for by doing this you will save yourself and those who hear you.
1 Do not rebuke the elder, but exhort him as a father; to the younger ones, as brothers;
2 to the elderly, as mothers; to the young girls, as sisters, with all purity.
3 He honors widows who are truly widows.
4 But if any widow has children, or grandchildren, let them first learn to be pious toward their own family, and to reward their parents; because this is what is good and acceptable before God.
5 But she who is truly a widow and is left alone, she hopes in God, and she is diligent in supplications and prayers night and day.
6 But she who indulges in pleasure is dead while she lives.
7 She also commands these things, so that they may be blameless;
8 For if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.
9 Let only the widow be put on the list, not less than sixty years of age, who has been the wife of one husband,
10 who has a testimony of good works; if she has raised children; whether she has practiced hospitality; if she has washed the feet of the saints; if she has helped the afflicted; if she has done every good work.
11 But do not admit younger widows; because when, driven by their desires, they rebel against Christ, they want to marry,
12 thus incurring condemnation for having broken her first faith.
13 And they also learn to be idle, walking from house to house; and not only idle, but also gossips and busybodies, speaking what they should not.
14 Therefore I want young widows to marry, raise children, rule their homes; that they do not give the adversary any opportunity to speak evil.
15 For some have already turned away after Satan.
16 If a believing man or woman has widows, let him provide for them, and let the church not be taxed, so that there may be enough for those who are truly widows.
17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who work in preaching and teaching.
18 For the Scripture says: You shall not muzzle the ox that treads the grain; and: Worthy is the worker of his wages.
19 Do not admit accusation against an elder except with two or three witnesses.
20 Rebuke those who continue to sin in the presence of everyone, so that others may also fear.
21 I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, and his chosen angels, to observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with partiality.
22 Do not lay hands lightly on anyone, nor participate in other people’s sins. Keep yourself pure.
23 Don’t drink water anymore, but use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.
24 The sins of some men become evident before they come to judgment, but to others they are discovered afterwards.
25 Likewise good works are made manifest; and those that are otherwise cannot remain hidden.
1 Let all who are under the yoke of slavery count their masters worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the doctrine may not be blasphemed.
2 And those who have believing masters, do not despise them because they are brothers, but serve them better, because those who benefit from their good service are believers and loved ones. This teaches and exhorts.
3 If anyone teaches otherwise, and does not conform to the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine that is according to godliness,
4 he is conceited, knows nothing, and is delirious about questions and disputes of words, of which envy, quarrels, blasphemies, bad suspicions,
5 foolish disputes arise from men corrupted in their understanding and deprived of the truth, who take piety as a source of gain; stay away from such.
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain;
7 because we have brought nothing into this world, and certainly we can take nothing out.
8 Therefore, having food and shelter, let us be content with this.
9 For those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap, and into many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge men into destruction and perdition;
10 because the love of money is the root of all evil, for some, coveting it, strayed from the faith and were pierced with many sorrows.
11 But you, O man of God, flee from these things, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith, take hold of eternal life, to which you were also called, having made the good profession before many witnesses.
13 I command you before God, who gives life to all things, and Jesus Christ, who testified of the good profession before Pontius Pilate,
14 May you keep the commandment without spot or blame, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 which in due time will show the blessed and only Sovereign, King of kings, and Lord of lords,
16 who alone has immortality, who dwells in inaccessible light; whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting dominion. Amen.
17 Command those who are rich in this world not to be haughty, nor to put their hope in riches, which are uncertain, but in the living God, who richly gives us all things to enjoy.
18 Let them do good, be rich in good works, generous, generous;
19 laying up for themselves a good foundation for the future, that they may take hold of eternal life.
20 O Timothy, keep what has been entrusted to you, avoiding profane talk about vain things, and the arguments of falsely so-called science,
21 which some professing, have deviated from the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.
