Ezekiel 1-24

Ezekiel chapter 1

The vision of divine glory

1 It came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, that as I was among the captives by the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.
2 In the fifth year of the exile of King Jehoiakim, on the fifth day of the month,
3 the word of the Lord came to Ezekiel the priest son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans, by the river Chebar; The hand of the Lord came upon him there.
4 And I looked, and behold, a stormy wind was coming from the north, and a great cloud, with a burning fire, and around it a brightness, and in the midst of the fire something that looked like shining bronze,
5 and in the midst of it the figure of four living beings. And this was their appearance: there was in them the likeness of a man.
6 Each one had four faces and four wings.
7 And their feet were straight, and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot; and they sparkled like highly burnished bronze.
8 Under their wings, on their four sides, they had the hands of a man; and their faces and their wings on the four sides.
9 With their wings they joined each other. They did not turn when they walked, but each one walked straight forward.
10 And the appearance of their faces was the face of a man, and the face of a lion on the right side of the four, and the face of an ox on the left of the four; Likewise, there were eagle faces on all four.
11 Such were their faces. And they had their wings spread above them, each one two, which came together; and the other two covered their bodies.
12 And each one walked straight forward; Wherever the spirit moved them to go, they went; and when they walked, they did not turn back.
13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like a vision of burning torches walking among the living creatures; and the fire shone, and lightning came out of the fire.
14 And the living creatures ran and returned like lightning.
15 While I was looking at the living creatures, behold, there was a wheel on the earth next to the living creatures on all four sides.
16 The appearance of the wheels and their work was similar to the color of chrysolite. And the four had the same similarity; His appearance and his work were like a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
17 When they walked, they moved to their four sides; They did not turn when they walked.
18 And their rings were high and frightful, and full of eyes all around in the four.
19 And when the living creatures walked, the wheels moved with them; and when the living creatures arose from the earth, the wheels arose.
20 Wherever the spirit moved them to go, they went; Wherever the spirit moved them to go, the wheels also rose up behind them; because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.

21 When they walked, they walked, and when they stopped, they stopped; likewise when they rose from the earth, the wheels rose after them; because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.

22 And above the heads of the living creatures appeared an expansion like a marvelous crystal, stretched out above their heads.
23 And under the expanse their wings were straight, reaching out one toward another; and each one had two wings that covered his body.
24 And I heard the sound of their wings as they walked, like the sound of many waters, like the voice of the Almighty, like the noise of a crowd, like the noise of an army. When they stood, they let down their wings.
25 And when they stood and lowered their wings, a voice was heard from above from the expanse that was above their heads.
26 And on the expanse that was above their heads was seen the figure of a throne that seemed to be made of sapphire stone; and on the figure of the throne there was a likeness that looked like a man sitting on it.
27 And I saw the appearance of shining bronze, like the appearance of fire within her all around, from the appearance of her loins upward; and from its loins downwards, I saw that it looked like fire, and that it had radiance all around.
28 As the rainbow appears in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness around it. This was the vision of the likeness of the glory of Jehovah. And when I saw it, I fell on my face, and heard the voice of one speaking.

Ezekiel Chapter 2

Ezekiel's Call

1 He said to me, Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak with you.
2 And as soon as he spoke to me, the Spirit entered into me and established me on my feet, and I heard him who spoke to me.
3 And he said to me, Son of man, I am sending you to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me; They and their fathers have rebelled against me to this very day.
4 I therefore send you sons of hard faces and hardened hearts; and you shall say to them, Thus says the Lord God.
5 Perhaps they will listen; But if they do not listen, because they are a rebellious house, they will always know that there was a prophet among them.
6 And you, son of man, do not fear them, nor be afraid of their words, although you are among brambles and thorns, and dwell with scorpions; Do not be afraid of their words, nor be afraid before them, for they are a rebellious house.
7 Therefore you will speak my words to them, whether they listen or stop listening; because they are very rebellious.
8 But you, son of man, hear what I speak to you; do not be rebellious like the rebellious house; He opens your mouth, and eat what I give you.
9 And I looked, and behold, a hand stretched out toward me, and in it was a scroll of a book.
10 And he spread it before me, and it was written on the front and on the back; and there were written on it dirges and lamentations and woes

Ezekiel Chapter 3

1 He said to me, Son of man, eat what you find; Eat this scroll, and go and speak to the house of Israel.
2 And I opened my mouth, and he made me eat that scroll.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, feed thy belly, and fill thy bowels with this scroll that I give thee. And I ate it, and it was sweet as honey in my mouth.
4 Then he said to me, Son of man, go and enter the house of Israel, and speak to them with my words.
5 For you are not sent to a people of deep speech or a difficult tongue, but to the house of Israel.
6 Not to many people of deep speech or difficult language, whose words you do not understand; and if I sent you to them, they would hear you.
7 But the house of Israel will not listen to you, because they do not want to listen to me; for the whole house of Israel is hard-headed and obstinate in heart.
8 Behold, I have made your face strong against their faces, and your forehead strong against their foreheads.
9 I have made your forehead like a diamond, stronger than flint; Do not fear them, nor be afraid of them, for they are a rebellious house.
10 And he said to me, Son of man, take into your heart all my words that I speak to you, and hear with your ears.
11 And go and bring in the captives, the children of your people, and speak to them and say to them, Thus says the Lord God; listen, or stop listening.
12 And the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard a loud voice behind me, saying, Blessed be the glory of the Lord from his place.
13 I also heard the sound of the wings of the living creatures coming together, and the sound of the wheels before them, and the sound of a great roar.
14 So he lifted up the Spirit for me, and he took me; and I went in bitterness, in the indignation of my spirit, but the hand of the Lord was strong upon me.
15 And I came to the captives at Tel-abib, who dwelt by the river Chebar, and sat down where they were sitting, and there I remained seven days amazed among them.

The watchtower of Israel

16 And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
17 Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; You will therefore hear the word of my mouth, and you will warn them from me.
18 When I say to the wicked, You will surely die; and do not warn him or speak to him, so that the wicked may be warned of his evil way so that he may live, the wicked will die for his wickedness, but his blood I will require at your hand.
19 But if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness and from his evil way, he will die for his wickedness, but you will have delivered your soul.

20 If a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before him, he will die, because you did not warn him; in his sin he will die, and the righteousness that he had done to him will not come in memory of him; but his blood I will require at your hand.
21 But if you warn a righteous man not to sin, and he does not sin, he will surely live, because he was warned; and you will have freed your soul.

The mute prophet

22 The hand of the LORD came upon me there, and said unto me, Arise, and go out into the field, and there I will speak with thee.
23 And I got up and went out into the field; and behold, there was the glory of the Lord, like the glory that he had seen by the river Chebar; and I fell on my face.
24 Then the Spirit entered into me and established me on my feet, and he spoke to me and said to me, Go in and shut yourself up inside your house.
25 And you, son of man, behold, they will put ropes on you, and bind you with them, and you will not go out among them.
26 And I will make your tongue stick to your palate, and you will be mute, and you will not be a rebuking man to them; because they are a rebellious house.
27 But when I have spoken to you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them, Thus says the Lord God: He who hears, let him hear; and he who does not want to hear, let him not hear; because they are a rebellious house.

Ezekiel Chapter 4

Jerusalem Siege Prediction

1 You, son of man, take an adobe brick and set it before you, and lay out the city of Jerusalem on it.
2 And you shall lay a siege against it, and build a fortress against it, and build a bulwark against it, and set a camp before it, and set battering rams against it all around it.
3 Take also a plate of iron, and put it in place of an iron wall between you and the city; Then you will establish your face against it, and it will be a place of siege, and you will besiege it. It is a sign to the house of Israel.
4 And you will lie down on your left side and put the iniquity of the house of Israel on it. As many days as you sleep on it, you will bear their iniquity on you.
5 I have given you the years of his iniquity by the number of days, three hundred and ninety days; and thus you will bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.
6 When these are done, you will lie down on your right side the second time, and you will bear the iniquity of the house of Judah for forty days; day by year, day by year I have given it to you.
7 At the siege of Jerusalem you will establish your face, and bare your arm, you will prophesy against it.
8 And behold, I have put bonds upon you, and you shall not turn from one side to the other, until you have completed the days of your siege.
9 And take for yourself wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet and oats, and put them in a vessel, and make bread from them for the number of days that you lie on your side; three hundred and ninety days you will eat of it.
10 The food you will eat will be twenty shekels a day; from time to time you will eat it.
11 And you shall drink the water by measure, the sixth part of a hin; from time to time you will drink it.
12 And you will eat barley bread baked under ashes; and you will cook it in their sight with the fire of human excrement.

13 And the LORD said, Thus shall the children of Israel eat their unclean bread among the nations where I will drive them.
14 And I said, Ah, Lord Jehovah! Behold, my soul is not unclean, nor from my youth until this time have I ever eaten anything dead or torn to pieces, nor has unclean flesh ever entered my mouth.
15 And he answered me: Behold, I permit you to use ox dung instead of human excrement to bake your bread.
16 Then he said to me, ā€œSon of man, behold, I will break the provision of bread in Jerusalem; and they will eat the bread by weight and with anguish, and they will drink the water by measure and with fear,
17 so that when they lack bread and water, they will look at each other with fear, and be consumed in their wickedness.

Ezekiel Chapter 5

1 And you, son of man, take a sharp knife, take a barber’s razor, and pass it over your head and your beard; Then take a weighing scale and divide the hair.
2 You will burn a third of it with fire in the middle of the city, when the days of the siege are completed; and you shall take a third part and cut it off with the sword around the city; and you will scatter a third to the wind, and I will draw a sword after them.
3 You will also take from there a few in number, and you will tie them in the skirt of your cloak.
4 And you shall take some of them again, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; From there the fire will go out to the entire house of Israel.
5 Thus says the Lord God: This is Jerusalem; I placed her in the midst of the nations and the lands around her.
6 And she changed my decrees and my ordinances into wickedness more than the nations, and more than the lands that are around her; for they have rejected my decrees and my commandments, and have not walked in them.
7 Therefore thus says the Lord: Because you have multiplied more than the nations that are around you, have you not walked in my commandments, nor kept my laws? You have not walked even according to the laws of the nations around you.
8 Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against you; yes, I, and will execute judgments among you in the eyes of the nations.
9 And I will do to you what I never did, nor will I ever do the like, because of all your abominations.
10 Therefore the fathers will eat the children in your midst, and the children will eat their parents; and I will execute judgments on you, and I will scatter to all the winds whatever is left of you.
11 Therefore, as I live, says the Lord GOD, surely because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your abominations, I will also destroy you; My eye will not forgive, nor will I have mercy.
12 A third of you will die of pestilence and be consumed by famine in your midst; and a third will fall by the sword around you; and a third I will scatter to all the winds, and after them I will draw a sword.
13 And my fury will be fulfilled, and I will satisfy my anger on them, and I will be satisfied; and they will know that I, the Lord, have spoken in my jealousy, when he fulfills my anger on them.

14 And I will make you a desolation and a reproach among the nations that are around you, in the eyes of every passerby.
15 And you will be a reproach and a mockery and a warning and a fright to the nations that are around you, when I execute judgments on you in fury and indignation, and in rebukes of wrath. I, Jehovah, have spoken.
16 When I bring upon them the evil arrows of famine, which will be for destruction, which I will send to destroy you, then I will increase the famine upon you, and I will break the supply of bread among you.
17 Therefore I will send famine upon you, and fierce beasts to destroy you; and pestilence and blood will pass through your midst, and I will send a sword upon you. I, Jehovah, have spoken.

Ezekiel Chapter 6

Prophecy against the mountains of Israel

1 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
2 Son of man, set your face toward the mountains of Israel, and prophesy against them.
3 And you will say: Mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD: Thus says the Lord GOD to the mountains and to the hills, to the streams and to the valleys: Behold, I, I will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places.
4 Your altars will be desolated, and your images of the sun will be broken; and I will cause your dead to fall before your idols.
5 And I will lay the dead bodies of the children of Israel before their idols, and I will scatter your bones around your altars.
6 Wherever you live, the cities will be deserted, and the high places will be desolate, so that your altars will be desolate and become deserted; and your idols will be broken and destroyed, your images of the sun will be destroyed, and your works will be undone.
7 And the dead will fall among you; and you will know that I am Jehovah.
8 But I will leave a remnant, so that you may have among the nations some who will escape the sword, when you are scattered throughout the lands.
9 And those of you who escape will remember me among the nations to which they will be captives; for I was broken because of their fornicating heart that departed from me, and because of their eyes that committed fornication after their idols; and they will be ashamed of themselves, because of the evils they did in all their abominations.
10 And they will know that I am Jehovah; It was not in vain that I said that I would do them this harm.
11 Thus says the Lord GOD: Clap with your hands, and stamp with your foot, and say: Alas, for all the great abominations of the house of Israel! for by sword and by famine and by pestilence they will fall.

12 He who is far away will die of pestilence, he who is near will fall by the sword, and he who remains and is besieged will die of hunger; so I will fulfill my anger on them.
13 And you will know that I am Jehovah, when their dead are among their idols, around their altars, on every high hill, on all the tops of the mountains, under every leafy tree and under every thick oak, places where they offered incense to all their idols.
14 And I will stretch out my hand against them, and wherever they live I will make the land more desolate and desolate than the desert towards Diblath; and they will know that I am Jehovah.

Ezekiel Chapter 7

The end is coming

1 The word of the Lord came to me, saying:
2 You, son of man, thus says the Lord God to the land of Israel: The end, the end is coming upon the four corners of the earth.
3 Now the end will be upon you, and I will send my fury upon you, and I will judge you according to your ways; and I will lay all your abominations upon you.
4 And my eye will not spare you, nor will I have mercy; but I will set your ways against you, and your abominations will be in your midst; and you will know that I am Jehovah.
5 Thus says the Lord GOD: An evil, behold, an evil is coming.
6 The end is coming, the end is coming; he has awakened against you; behold it comes.
7 The morning comes for you, O inhabitant of the earth; The time comes, the day is near; a day of tumult, and not of joy, on the mountains.
8 Now I will soon pour out my wrath on you, and fulfill my fury on you, and judge you according to your ways; and I will lay your abominations upon you.
9 And mine eye will not spare, nor will I have mercy; I will lay upon you according to your ways, and your abominations will be in your midst; and you will know that I am the Lord who punishes.
10 Behold the day, behold it is coming; the morning has risen; the rod has blossomed, pride has budded.
11 Violence has been lifted up as a rod of wickedness; There will be none left of them, nor of their multitude, nor one of their own, nor will there be any among them who mourn.
12 The time has come, the day is at hand; Let not he who buys rejoice, and let not he who sells weep, for wrath is upon all the multitude.
13 For he who sells will not return to what he sold, even if they remain alive; for the vision of the whole multitude will not be revoked, and because of his iniquity no one will be able to protect his life.
14 They will blow the trumpet, and prepare all things, and there will be no one to go to battle; for my wrath is on all the multitude.
15 From without a sword, from within pestilence and famine; He who is in the field will die by the sword, and he who is in the city will be consumed by famine and pestilence.
16 And those who escape from them will flee and will be on the mountains like doves in the valleys, each one groaning for his iniquity.
17 Every hand will be weak, and every knee will be weak as water.
18 They will also gird themselves with sackcloth, and terror will cover them; There will be shame on every face, and all their heads will be shaved.
19 They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be thrown away; Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath; They will not satisfy his soul, nor fill his bowels, because it has been a stumbling block to his iniquity.

20 Because they turned the glory of their ornament into pride, and made it the images of their abominable idols, therefore I made it a disgusting thing for them.
21 I gave it into the hand of strangers to be plundered, and it will become a prey to the wicked of the land, and they will defile it.
22 And I will turn my face away from them, and my secret place will be violated; For invaders will enter it and desecrate it.
23 Make a chain, for the land is full of blood crimes, and the city is full of violence.
24 Therefore I will bring the most wicked of the nations, who will possess their houses; and I will cause the pride of the powerful to cease, and their sanctuaries will be desecrated.
25 Destruction is coming; and they will seek peace, and there will be none.
26 Devastation will come upon devastation, and there will be rumor upon rumor; and they will seek an answer from the prophet, but the law will depart from the priest, and the counsel from the elders.
27 The king will mourn, and the prince will be clothed in sadness, and the hands of the people of the land will tremble; I will do with them according to their way, and I will judge them with their judgments; and they will know that I am Jehovah.

Ezekiel Chapter 8

Vision of the abominations in Jerusalem

1 In the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth day of the month, it came to pass that I was sitting in my house, and the elders of Judah were sitting before me, and there the hand of the Lord God rested on me. .
2 And I looked, and behold, a figure that looked like a man; from his loins downwards, fire; and from his loins upwards he seemed to shine, the appearance of shining bronze.
3 And that figure stretched out his hand, and took me by the locks of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between heaven and earth, and carried me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the inner gate that faces north, where was the habitation of the image of jealousy, which provokes jealousy.
4 And behold, there was the glory of the God of Israel, like the vision that I had seen in the field.
5 And he said to me, Son of man, lift up now your eyes toward the north side. And I lifted up my eyes toward the north, and behold, to the north, by the door of the altar, that image of zeal at the entrance.
6 Then he said to me: Son of man, do you not see what these are doing, the great abominations that the house of Israel is doing here to keep me from my sanctuary? But come again, and you will see greater abominations.
7 And he brought me to the entrance of the court, and I looked, and behold, there was a hole in the wall.
8 And he said unto me, Son of man, dig now into the wall. And I dug in the wall, and behold, a door.
9 Then he said to me: Go in and see the evil abominations that these do there.
10 So I went in and looked; and behold, all manner of reptiles and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, which were painted on the wall all around.
11 And before them stood seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel, and Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan in the midst of them, each one with his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense rose.
12 And he said to me, Son of man, have you seen the things that the elders of the house of Israel do in darkness, each one in his chambers painted with images? For they say, The Lord does not see us; Jehova has abandoned the Earth.
13 Then he said to me: Turn again, you will see greater abominations that these do.

14 And he brought me to the entrance of the gate of the house of the Lord, which is on the north; and behold, women sat there mourning Tammuz.
15 Then he said to me, Do you not see, son of man? Turn again, you will see greater abominations than these.
16 And he brought me into the inner court of the house of the Lord; And behold, by the entrance of the temple of the Lord, between the entrance and the altar, about twenty-five men, their backs were turned toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, and they worshiped the sun, bowing themselves toward the east.
17 And he said to me, Have you not seen, son of man? Is it a light thing for the house of Judah to do the abominations they do here? After they had filled the earth with wickedness, they turned to me to irritate me; behold, they apply the bouquet to their noses.
18 For I also will act in fury; My eye will not spare, nor will I have mercy; and they will shout in my ears with a loud voice, and I will not hear them.

Ezekiel Chapter 9

Vision of the death of the guilty

1 He cried in my ears with a loud voice, saying, The executioners of the city have come, and each one has in his hand his instrument of destruction.
2 And behold, six men came from the way of the upper gate that faces north, and each one had in his hand his instrument of destruction. And among them was a man dressed in linen, who had a scribe’s inkstand at his waist; and when they entered, they stood by the bronze altar.
3 And the glory of the God of Israel rose from above the cherub, on which he had stood, to the threshold of the house; And the LORD called the man clothed in linen, who had the scribe’s inkstand at his waist,
4 and the LORD said to him, Go through the middle of the city, through the middle of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who They groan and cry because of all the abominations that are done in its midst.
5 And he said to the others, as I heard it, Go through the city after him, and kill; spare not your eye, nor have ye mercy.
6 Kill the old, the young, and the virgins, the children, and the women, until there are none left; But you shall not approach anyone about whom there is a sign; and you will begin at my sanctuary. So they began from the old men who were before the temple.
7 And he said to them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the dead; come out And they went out and killed in the city.
8 It came to pass, when they were killing, and I was left alone, that I fell on my face, and cried, and said, Ah, Lord Jehovah! Will you destroy all the remnant of Israel by pouring out your fury on Jerusalem?
9 And he said to me, The wickedness of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, for the land is full of blood, and the city is full of perversity; for they have said, The Lord has abandoned the land, and the Lord does not see.

10 Thus will I do; My eye will not forgive, nor will I have mercy; I will make their way fall on their own heads.
11 And behold, the man clothed in linen, who had the inkwell at his waist, answered a word, saying, I have done according to all that you commanded me.

Ezekiel Chapter 10

The glory of God leaves the temple

1 I looked, and behold, in the expanse that was over the head of the cherubim, like a sapphire stone, it seemed like the likeness of a throne that was shown above them.
2 And he spoke to the man clothed in linen, and said to him, Go into the midst of the wheels under the cherubim, and fill your hands with burning coals from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city. And he entered into my sight.
3 And the cherubim were on the right hand side of the house when this man entered; and the cloud filled the inner court.
4 Then the glory of the LORD rose from above the cherub to the threshold of the door; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the Lord.
5 And the roar of the wings of the cherubim was heard even to the outer court, like the voice of the Almighty God when he speaks.
6 So it came to pass, when he commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubim, that he went in and stood between the wheels.
7 And a cherub stretched out his hand from the midst of the cherubim to the fire that was between them, and took it and put it in the hands of him who was clothed in linen, who took it and went out.
8 And the figure of a man’s hand appeared on the cherubim under his wings.
9 And I looked, and behold, four wheels by the cherubs, and by each cherub a wheel; and the appearance of the wheels was like chrysolite.
10 As for their appearance, the four were of the same shape, as if they were one in the middle of another.
11 When they walked, they walked toward the four fronts; They did not turn back when they walked, but to the place where the first one turned, they followed her; nor did they turn when they walked.
12 And his whole body, his back, his hands, his wings and the wheels were full of eyes all around on his four wheels.
13 When I heard it, we shouted to the wheels: Wheel!
14 And each one had four faces. The first was the face of a cherub; the second, of a man; the third, the face of a lion; the fourth, the face of an eagle.
15 And the cherubim arose; This is the living creature that I saw in the Chebar River.
16 And when the cherubim moved, the wheels moved with them; and when the cherubim raised their wings to rise from the earth, the wheels did not depart from them either.

17 When they stood, they stood, and when they stood, they stood with them; because the spirit of the living beings was in them.
18 Then the glory of the LORD rose from above the threshold of the house, and he stood over the cherubim.
19 And the cherubim lifted up their wings and arose from the earth before my eyes; When they came out, the wheels also rose up beside them; and they stood at the entrance of the east gate of the house of the Lord, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.
20 These were the same living creatures that I saw under the God of Israel by the river Chebar; and I knew that they were cherubim.
21 Each one had four faces and each one four wings, and figures of human hands under their wings.
22 And the likeness of their faces was that of the faces that I saw by the river Chebar, their appearance and their being; each one walked straight forward.

Ezekiel Chapter 11

Rebuke of evil princes

1 The Spirit lifted me up, and brought me through the east gate of the house of the Lord, which faces east; And behold, at the entrance of the gate twenty-five men, among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, leaders of the people.
2 And he said unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise wickedness, and give evil counsel in this city;
3 who say: It will not be so soon; let’s build houses; This will be the pot, and we will be the meat.
4 He therefore prophecies against them; he prophesies, son of man.
5 And the Spirit of the LORD came upon me, and he said to me, Say, Thus says the LORD: Thus have you spoken, O house of Israel, and the things that come into your spirit, I have understood.
6 You have multiplied your dead in this city, and you have filled its streets with dead.
7 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Your dead whom you have placed in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and it is the pot; but I will bring you out of the midst of it.
8 You have feared the sword, and I will bring the sword upon you, says the Lord GOD.
9 And I will bring you out of the midst of it, and I will deliver you into the hands of strangers, and I will execute judgments among you.
10 You will fall by the sword; I will judge you in the borders of Israel, and you will know that I am Jehovah.
11 The city will not be your pot, nor will you be the meat in its midst; I will judge you in the borders of Israel.
12 And you will know that I am Jehovah; for you have not walked in my statutes, nor obeyed my decrees, but have done according to the customs of the nations around you.
13 And it came to pass, while I was prophesying, that Pelatias the son of Benaiah died. Then I fell face to the ground and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah, Lord Jehovah! Will you completely destroy the remnant of Israel?

Promise of restoration and renewal

14 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
15 Son of man, your brothers, your brothers, the men of your kin, and all the house of Israel, all of them are those to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem said, Depart from the LORD; to us the land is given in possession.
16 Therefore say, Thus says the Lord GOD: Although I have driven them far among the nations, and scattered them throughout the lands, yet I will be a little sanctuary for them in the lands where they come.

17 Therefore say, Thus says the Lord GOD: I will gather you from the peoples, and I will gather you from the lands where you are scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.
18 And they will return there, and will put away from it all its idolatries and all its abominations.
19 And I will give them a heart, and I will put a new spirit within them; and I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh,
20 that they may walk in my ordinances, and keep my ordinances, and do them, and be my people, and I may be their God. .
21 But as for those whose hearts follow the desire of their idolatries and their abominations, I bring their way upon their own heads, says the Lord GOD.
22 Then the cherubim lifted up their wings, and the wheels followed them; and the glory of the God of Israel was upon them.
23 And the glory of the LORD arose from the midst of the city, and stood on the mountain that is east of the city.
24 Then he lifted up the Spirit for me and brought me back in a vision of the Spirit of God to the land of the Chaldeans, to the captives. And he left me the vision that he had seen.
25 And I spoke to the captives all the things that the Lord had shown me.

Ezekiel Chapter 12

Ezekiel's departure as a sign of captivity

1 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
2 Son of man, you dwell in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see and do not see, have ears to hear and do not hear, because they are a rebellious house.
3 Therefore, you, son of man, prepare your marching gear, and set out by day before his eyes; and you will move from your place to another place in their sight, in case they perhaps pay attention, because they are a rebellious house.
4 And you will bring out your belongings by day before their eyes, like the belongings of captivity; but you will go out in the evening in their sight, as one who goes out into captivity.
5 Before their eyes you will break through the wall and come out through it.
6 You will carry them on your shoulders before their eyes, you will take them out at night; you will cover your face, and you will not look at the earth; for I have given you as a sign to the house of Israel.
7 And I did as he commanded me; I took out my belongings during the day, like belongings of captivity, and in the afternoon I made my way through the wall with my own hand; I went out at night, and carried them on my shoulders in their sight.
8 And the word of the Lord came to me in the morning, saying,
9 Son of man, has not the house of Israel, that rebellious house, said to you, What are you doing?
10 Tell them: Thus says the Lord GOD: This prophecy concerns the prince in Jerusalem, and all the house of Israel that is in the midst of it.
11 Tell them: I am your sign; As I did, so it will be done to you; You will go into exile, into captivity.
12 And they will carry the prince who is among them by night, and they will go out; They will make a way through the wall to get him out through it; He will cover his face so that he will not see the earth with his eyes.
13 But I will spread my net over him, and he will fall into my trap, and I will take him to Babylon, to the land of the Chaldeans, but he will not see it, and there he will die.
14 And all those who are around him to help him, and all his troops, I will scatter to all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.
15 And they will know that I am the Lord, when he scatters them among the nations, and scatters them throughout the land.
16 And I will cause a few of them to escape from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence, so that they may count all their abominations among the nations where they come; and they will know that I am Jehovah.
17 The word of the Lord came to me, saying:
18 Son of man, eat your bread with trembling, and drink your water with trembling and anxiety.
19And say to the people of the land: Thus says the Lord God concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the land of Israel: They will eat its bread with fear, and drink its water with fear; for their land will be stripped of its fullness, because of the wickedness of all those who dwell in it.

20 And the inhabited cities will be deserted, and the land will be desolate; and you will know that I am Jehovah.
21 The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
22 Son of man, what saying is this that you have in the land of Israel, saying, The days are lengthening, and all vision will disappear?
23 Therefore tell them: Thus says the Lord GOD: I will cause this proverb to cease, and this saying will no longer be repeated in Israel. Tell them therefore: Those days are at hand, and the fulfillment of every vision.
24 For there will be no more vain vision, nor will there be any flattering divination among the house of Israel.
25 For I, the Lord, will speak, and the word that I speak will be fulfilled; It will not delay any longer, but in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak a word and I will fulfill it, says the Lord GOD.
26 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
27 Son of man, behold, the house of Israel say, The vision that this man sees is for many days to come, this man prophesies for distant times.
28 Therefore tell them: Thus says the Lord God: None of my words will tarry any longer, but the word that I speak will be fulfilled, says the Lord God.

Ezekiel Chapter 13

Condemnation of false prophets

1 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
2 Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy from their own heart: Hear the word of the Lord.
3 Thus says the Lord GOD: Woe to the foolish prophets, who walk after their own spirit and have seen nothing!
4 Your prophets were like foxes in the deserts, O Israel.
5 You have not gone up into the gaps, nor have you built a wall around the house of Israel, so that it may stand firm in battle on the day of the Lord.
6 They saw vanity and lying divination. They say, The Lord has said, and the Lord did not send them; Yet they expect him to confirm their word.
7 Have you not seen a vain vision, and have you not told lying divination, since you say, “The Lord said, since I have not spoken?”
8 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have spoken vanity, and have seen a lie, therefore, behold, I am against you, says the Lord God.
9 My hand will be against the prophets who see vanity and divine lies; They will not be in the congregation of my people, nor will they be written in the book of the house of Israel, nor will they return to the land of Israel; and you will know that I am the Lord God.
10 Yes, because they deceived my people, saying, Peace, when there is no peace; and one was building the wall, and behold, the others covered it with loose mud,
11 I gave the coverers with loose mud, which will fall; torrential rain will come, and I will send hailstones to cause it to fall, and a stormy wind will break it.
12 And behold, when the wall has fallen, will they not say to you, Where is the mud with which you covered it?
13 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: I will cause a stormy wind to break it in my anger, and torrential rain will come in my fury, and hailstones in anger to consume it.
14 So I will break down the wall that you covered with loose mud, and I will cast it to the ground, and its foundation will be revealed, and it will fall, and you will be consumed in the midst of it; and you will know that I am Jehovah.
15 Thus will I fulfill my fury on the wall and on those who covered it with loose mud; and I will tell you: There is no wall, nor those who covered it,
16 the prophets of Israel who prophesy about Jerusalem, and see a vision of peace for it, when there is no peace, says the Lord God.
17 And you, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people who prophesy from their own heart, and prophesy against them,

18 and say: Thus says the Lord GOD: Woe to those who sew magic bandages for all hands, and make magic veils for the heads of all ages, to hunt souls! Do you have to hunt the souls of my people, to maintain your own life?
19 And will you defile me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, killing people who should not die, and giving life to people who should not live, lying to my people who hear the lie?
20 Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I am against your magic bandages, with which you hunt souls on the fly; I will free them from your hands, and I will release the souls that you hunt flying to fly like birds.
21 I will also tear your magic veils, and I will deliver my people from your hand, and they will no longer be a prey in your hand; and you will know that I am Jehovah.
22 Because you have saddened with lies the heart of the righteous, whom I did not grieve, and strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that he did not turn from his evil way, giving him courage,
23 therefore you will no longer see a vain vision, nor practice it anymore. fortune telling; and I will deliver my people out of your hand, and you will know that I am the Lord.

Ezekiel Chapter 14

Judgment against idolaters who consult the prophet

1 Some of the elders of Israel came to me and sat down before me.
2 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
3 Son of man, these men have set up their idols in his heart, and have established the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face. Should I be consulted by them in any way?
4 Therefore speak to them and say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: Any man of the house of Israel who has put his idols in his heart, and established the stumbling block of his wickedness before his face, and comes to the prophet, I The Lord will answer him who comes according to the multitude of his idols,
5 to take the house of Israel by heart, since they have all turned away from me because of their idols.
6 Therefore say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord GOD: Repent, and turn from your idols, and turn your face from all your abominations.
7 For any man of the house of Israel, and of the foreigners that dwell in Israel, who has turned away from walking after me, and has put his idols in his heart, and established the stumbling block of his wickedness before his face , and come to the prophet to ask about me, I, Jehovah, will answer him for myself;
8 And I will set my face against that man, and I will make him a sign and a warning, and I will cut him off from among my people; and you will know that I am Jehovah.
9 And when the prophet was deceived and spoke a word, I the Lord deceived that prophet; and I will stretch out my hand against him and destroy him from among my people Israel.
10 And they will both bear the punishment of his iniquity; As the wickedness of the one who consults, so will be the wickedness of the prophet,
11 so that the house of Israel may no longer turn away from me, nor be defiled in all their transgressions; and let them be my people, and I will be their God, says the Lord God.

Jerusalem Punishment Justice

12 The word of the LORD came to me, saying:
13 Son of man, when the land sins against me by rebelling treacherously, and I stretch out my hand on it, and break its bread supply, and send a famine in it, and cut off of it. men and beasts,
14 if these three men, Noah, Daniel and Job, were in the midst of it, they by their righteousness would save only their own lives, says the Lord God.
15 And if I cause ferocious beasts to pass through the land and devastate it, and it becomes desolate so that no one passes through because of the wild beasts,
16 and these three men are in the midst of it, as I live, says the Lord God, neither They would not spare their sons or their daughters; They alone would be delivered, and the land would be desolate.

17 Or if I bring a sword upon the land, and say, Sword, pass through the land; and cut off men and beasts from it,
18 and these three men were in the midst of it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, they would not rescue their sons or their daughters; they alone would be delivered.
19 Or if I send pestilence on that land and pour out my wrath on it in blood, to cut off man and beast from it,
20 and Noah, Daniel and Job were in the midst of it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, they would not deliver son nor daughter; they by their justice would spare only their own lives.
21 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: How much more when I send against Jerusalem my four terrible judgments, sword, famine, wild beasts and pestilence, to cut off man and beast from it?
22 However, behold, there will be a remnant left in it, sons and daughters, who will be taken out of it; behold, they will come to you, and you will see her way and her deeds, and you will be comforted from the evil that I brought upon Jerusalem, from all the things that I brought upon her.
23 And they will comfort you when you see her way and her actions, and you will know that I did not do everything I did in her without cause, says the Lord GOD.title

Ezekiel Chapter 15

Jerusalem is like a useless vine

1 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
2 Son of man, what is the wood of the vine more than any other wood? What is the branch among the trees of the forest?
3 Will they take wood from it to do some work? Will they take a stake from it to hang something on it?
4 Behold, it is put into the fire to be consumed; The fire consumed its two ends, and the middle part was burned; Will it be useful for any work?
5 Behold, when it was whole it was not useful for any work; How much less after the fire has consumed it and it has been burned? Will it be more useful for any work?
6 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: As the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I gave to the fire to consume, so will I do to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
7 And I will set my face against them; Although they escaped the fire, the fire will consume them; and you will know that I am Jehovah, when I set my face against them.
8 And I will make the land a desolation, because they have transgressed, says the Lord GOD.

Ezekiel Chapter 16

Jerusalem's infidelity

1 The word of the Lord came to me, saying:
2 Son of man, tell Jerusalem of its abominations,
3 and say, Thus says the Lord God concerning Jerusalem: Your origin, your birth, is from the land of Canaan; Your father was an Amorite, and your mother was a Hittite.
4 And as for your birth, on the day you were born your navel was not cut, nor were you washed with water to cleanse you, nor salted with salt, nor were you wrapped with sashes.
5 There was no eye that had compassion on you to do any of this to you, having mercy on you; but you were thrown onto the face of the field, with contempt for your life, on the day you were born.
6 And I passed by you, and I saw you dirty in your blood, and when you were in your blood I said to you: Live! Yes, I told you, when you were in your blood: Live!
7 I made you multiply like the grass of the field; and you grew and became great, and became very beautiful; your breasts had formed, and your hair had grown; but you were naked and uncovered.
8 And I passed by you again, and looked at you, and behold, your time was a time of love; and I spread my mantle over you, and covered your nakedness; and I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, says the Lord God, and you became mine.
9 I washed you with water, and washed your blood from off you, and anointed you with oil;
10 and I clothed you with embroidery, shod you with badger, girded you with linen, and covered you with silk.
11 I adorned you with ornaments, and put bracelets on your arms and a necklace on your neck.
12 I put jewels in your nose, and earrings in your ears, and a beautiful diadem on your head.
13 So you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing was of fine linen, silk, and embroidery; you ate fine wheat flour, honey and oil; and you were extremely beautiful, you prospered until you became king.
14 And your renown went forth among the nations because of your beauty; for it was perfect, because of my beauty which I set upon you, says the Lord GOD.
15 But you trusted in your beauty, and you played the harlot because of your reputation, and you poured out your fornications on all who passed by; yours you were.
16 And you took of your garments, and made for yourself various high places, and you committed fornication on them; Such a thing had never happened, nor will it happen again.
17 You also took your beautiful gold and silver jewelry that I had given you, and made images of men for yourself and committed fornication with them;
18 and you took your clothes of different colors and covered them; and you placed my oil and my incense before them.
19My bread also, which I had given you, the fine flour, the oil and the honey, with which I fed you, you placed before them for a pleasant aroma; and it was so, says the Lord God.
20 Furthermore, you took your sons and your daughters, whom you had borne for me, and sacrificed them to be consumed. Were your fornications a small thing,
21 for you to also slaughter my children and offer them to those images as an offering that the fire consumed?
22 And with all your abominations and your fornications you have not remembered the days of your youth, when you were naked and uncovered, when you were wrapped in your blood.
23 And it came to pass, after all your wickedness (woe, woe to you, says the Lord God),
24 that you built yourself high places, and made yourself an altar in every square.
25 At every head of the road you built a high place, and you made your beauty abominable, and you offered yourself to all who passed by, and you multiplied your fornications.
26 And you committed fornication with the fat-fleshed sons of Egypt, your neighbors; and you increased your fornications to anger me.
27 Therefore, behold, I have stretched out my hand against you, and reduced your ordinary provision, and handed you over to the will of the daughters of the Philistines, who hate you, who are ashamed of your dishonest way.
28 You also committed fornication with the Assyrians, because you were not satisfied; and you committed fornication with them and were not satisfied.
29 You also multiplied your fornication in the land of Canaan and the Chaldeans, and you were not satisfied with this either.
30 How fickle is your heart, says the Lord GOD, having done all these things, the works of a shameless harlot,
31 building your high places at every head of the way, and making your altars in every square! And you were not like a harlot, in that you despised the wages,
32 but like an adulterous woman, who took in strangers instead of her husband.
33 They give gifts to all the harlots; but you gave your gifts to all your lovers; and you gave them gifts, so that from all sides they would come to you in your fornications.

34 And it has happened to you, in your fornications, the opposite of other women: because no one has asked you to commit fornication, and you give the payment, instead of receiving it; This is why you have been different.
35 Therefore, harlot, hear the word of the Lord.
36 Thus says the Lord GOD: Because your nakedness has been revealed in your fornications, and your confusion has been revealed to your lovers, and to the idols of your abominations, and in the blood of your children, whom you gave them;

37 Therefore, behold, I will gather together all your lovers with whom you took pleasure, and all those you loved, with all those you hated; and I will gather them around you and reveal your nakedness to them, and they will see all your nakedness.
38 And I will judge you by the laws of adulteresses, and of those who shed blood; and I will bring upon you the blood of wrath and jealousy.
39 And I will deliver you into their hands; and they will destroy your high places, and they will tear down your altars, and they will strip you of your clothes, they will take away your beautiful jewelry, and they will leave you naked and uncovered.

40 And they will bring up a multitude of people against you, and they will stone you and pierce you with their swords.
41 They will burn your houses with fire, and they will execute judgments on you in the presence of many women; and so I will make you stop being a harlot, and stop lavishing your gifts.
42 And I will satisfy my anger upon you, and my jealousy will depart from you, and I will rest and will not be angry anymore.
43 Because you have not remembered the days of your youth, and have provoked me to anger in all this, therefore, behold, I also will bring your way upon your head, says the Lord God; Well, you haven’t even thought about all your lust.
44 Behold, everyone who uses proverbs will apply to you the saying that says: As is the mother, so is the daughter.
45 You are your mother’s daughter, for she rejected her husband and her children; and you are a sister to your sisters, who rejected their husbands and their children; Your mother was a Hittite, and your father was an Amorite.
46 And your elder sister is Samaria, she and her daughters, who live north of you; and your younger sister is Sodom with her daughters, who lives south of you.
47 You did not even walk in her ways, nor did you according to her abominations; Before, as if this were little and very little, you became more corrupt than them in all your ways.
48 As I live, says the Lord GOD, Sodom your sister and her daughters have not done as you and your daughters did.
49 Behold, this was the iniquity of Sodom your sister: she and her daughters had pride, satiety of bread, and abundance of idleness; and she did not strengthen the hand of the afflicted and the needy.
50 And they were filled with pride, and made an abomination before me, and when I saw it I removed them.
51 And Samaria did not commit half of your sins; for you have multiplied your abominations more than they, and have justified your sisters with all the abominations that you have done.
52 You also, who judged your sisters, bear your shame in the sins that you committed, more abominable than theirs; They are more just than you; Be ashamed, therefore, you also, and bear your confusion, because you have justified your sisters.
53 Therefore I will bring back their captives, the captives of Sodom and its daughters, and the captives of Samaria and its daughters, and I will bring back the captives of your captivities among them,
54 so that you may bear your confusion, and be ashamed of everything you have done, being a source of comfort to them.
55 And your sisters, Sodom with her daughters and Samaria with her daughters, will return to their first state; You too and your daughters will return to your first state.
56 Your sister Sodom was not worthy of mention in your mouth in the time of your pride,
57before your evil was discovered. So now you also bear the disgrace of the daughters of Syria and of all the daughters of the Philistines, who despise you everywhere.
58 Bear the punishment of your lust and your abominations, says the Lord.
59 But more says the Lord GOD: Shall I do to you as you did, that you disregarded the oath to nullify the covenant?
60 But I will remember my covenant that I made with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.
61 And you will remember your ways and be ashamed, when you receive your sisters, those older than you and those younger than you, whom I will give you as daughters, but not because of your covenant,
62 but because of my covenant that I will confirm with you ; and you will know that I am Jehovah;
63 so that you may remember and be ashamed, and never again open your mouth because of your shame, when I forgive everything you have done, says the Lord God.

Ezekiel Chapter 17

Parable of the eagles and the vine

1 The word of the Jehovah came to me, saying,
2 Son of man, propose a figure, and compose a parable to the house of Israel.
3 And you will say, Thus says the Lord GOD: A great eagle, with great wings and long limbs, full of feathers of various colors, came to Lebanon and took the bud of the cedar.
4 She plucked the main shoot from it and brought it to a land of merchants, and placed it in a city of merchants.
5 She also took of the seed of the earth, and put it in a good field for sowing, planted it by abundant waters, made it like a willow.
6 And it sprouted, and became a vine of many branches, of low height, and its branches faced the eagle, and its roots were under it; So he became a vine, and shed branches and put forth debris.
7 There was also another great eagle, with great wings and many feathers; and behold, this vine gathered its roots close to it, and stretched out its branches towards it, to be watered by it through the furrows of its planting.
8 In a good field, by many waters, it was planted, to make branches and bear fruit, and to be a strong vine.
9 Tell them: Thus says the Lord God: Will it prosper? Will it not pull out its roots, and destroy its fruit, and wither away? All its lush leaves will wither; and that without great power or many people to uproot it from its roots.
10 And behold, it is planted; Will it be prosperous? Will it not dry completely when the east wind touches it? In the furrows of its greenery it will dry up.
11 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
12 Now say to the rebellious house: Have you not understood what these things mean? Tell them: Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took your king and his princes, and brought them with him to Babylon.
13 He also took one of the royal descendants and made a covenant with him, and made him swear an oath; and he took with him the mighty men of the earth,
14 so that the kingdom might be brought down and not rise again, so that, keeping the covenant, it might remain standing.
15 But he rebelled against him, sending ambassadors to Egypt to give him horses and many people. Will he who did these things prosper, will he escape? The one who broke the pact, can he escape?
16 As I live, says the Lord GOD, he will die in the midst of Babylon, in the place where the king who made him reign dwells, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he made with him he broke.
17 And neither with a large army nor with a large company will Pharaoh do anything for him in battle, when fences are erected and towers are built to cut off many lives.

1 photo

18 Because he despised the oath and broke the covenant, when, behold, he had given his hand, and has done all these things, he will not escape.

19 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: As I live, I will bring upon his own head my oath which he has despised, and my covenant which he has broken.
20 I will spread my net over him, and he will be caught in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and there I will enter into judgment with him for his transgression in rebelling against me.
21 And all his fugitives, with all his troops, will fall by the sword, and those who remain will be scattered to all the winds; and you will know that I, the Lord, have spoken.
22 Thus says the Lord GOD: I will take the bud of that tall cedar, and plant it; From the chief of its shoots I will cut off a stalk, and I will plant it on the high and sublime mountain.
23 I will plant it on the high mountain of Israel, and it will raise branches, and bear fruit, and become a magnificent cedar; and all birds of every kind will dwell under it; They will dwell in the shadow of its branches.
24 And all the trees of the field will know that I, the Lord, have brought down the high tree, raised up the low tree, made the green tree wither, and made the dry tree green. I, the Lord, have said it, and I will do it.

Ezekiel Chapter 18

The soul that sins will die

1 The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
2 What do you think, who use this proverb about the land of Israel, which says, The fathers ate the sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge?
3 As I live, says the Lord God, you will never again have to use this proverb in Israel.
4 Behold, all souls are mine; As the soul of the father, so the soul of the son is mine; The soul that sins will die.
5 And the man that is righteous, and does according to law and justice;
6 Let him not eat on the mountains, nor lift up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, nor rape his neighbor’s wife, nor go near a menstruating woman,
7 nor oppress anyone; that he should return his pledge to the debtor, that he should not commit theft, and that he should give his bread to the hungry and cover the naked with clothing,
8 that he should not lend at interest or take usury; that I will withdraw the hand of evil from him, and execute true judgment between man and man,
9 I will walk in my ordinances, and I will keep my decrees to do rightly, this is righteous; This one will live, says the Lord God.
10 But if he fathers a son who is a thief, a bloodshed, or who does any of these things,
11 and does not do the rest, but eats on the mountains, or rapes his neighbor’s wife,
12 he oppresses the poor and needy, commits steals, does not return the pledge, or lifts up his eyes to idols and commits abomination,
13 lends at interest and takes usury; Will this one live? He will not live. All these abominations he did; He will surely die, his blood will be on him.
14 But if this man begets a son, who sees all the sins that his father committed, and seeing them, does not do according to them;
15 He will not eat on the mountains, nor lift up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel; His neighbor’s wife shall not rape,
16 nor oppress anyone, nor shall she retain a pledge, nor commit theft; He will give his bread to the hungry, and cover the naked with clothing;
17 I will take his hand away from the poor; he will not receive interest and usury; I will keep my decrees and walk in my ordinances; this one will not die for the wickedness of his father; surely he will live.
18 His father, because he had done wrong, despoiled his brother violently, and did what is not good among his people; behold, he will die for his iniquity.
19 And if you say, Why will not the son bear the sin of his father? Because the son did according to law and justice, he kept all my statutes and fulfilled them, he will surely live.
twentyThe soul that sins will die; The son will not bear the sin of the father, nor will the father bear the sin of the son; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon him.

God's way is fair

21 But the wicked, if he turns from all his sins which he has committed, and keeps all my statutes, and does what is right and right, he will surely live; he will not die.
22 All the transgressions that he committed will not be remembered to him; In his righteousness which he made he will live.
23 Do I want the death of the wicked? says the Lord God. Will he not live if he turns away from his ways?
24 But if the righteous turn away from his righteousness and commit evil, and do according to all the abominations that the wicked did, will he live? None of the justices that he did will be taken into account; for his rebellion with which he transgressed, and for the sin which he committed, therefore he will die.
25 And if you say, The way of the Lord is not straight; Hear now, house of Israel: Is not my way straight? Are not your ways crooked?
26 When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, he will die for it; For the iniquity that he did, he will die.
27 And the wicked turning away from the wickedness of his which he did, and doing according to justice and righteousness, he shall make his soul live.
28 Because he looked and turned away from all his transgressions that he had committed, he will surely live; he will not die.
29 If the house of Israel still says, The way of the Lord is not straight; Are not my ways straight, house of Israel? Certainly, our paths are not straight.
30 Therefore I will judge you each one according to his ways, O house of Israel, says the Lord GOD. Convert and turn away from all your transgressions, and iniquity will not be your ruin.
31 Cast away from you all your transgressions by which you have sinned, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, house of Israel?
32 For I do not want the death of him who dies, says the Lord God; So convert and you will live.

Ezekiel Chapter 19

Lamentation over the princes of Israel

1 And you, lift up a lamentation over the princes of Israel.
2 You will say: How your mother the lioness lay down among the lions! Among the young lions she raised her cubs,
3 and brought up one of her cubs; He became a young lion, and learned to snatch prey and devour men.
4 And the nations heard of him; He was caught in their trap, and they brought him in fetters to the land of Egypt.
5 Seeing that she had waited a long time, and that her hope was lost, she took another of her cubs, and made him a young lion.
6 And he walked among the lions; He became a lion, learned to snatch prey, devoured men.
7 He plundered fortresses, and laid waste cities; and the land was desolate, and all that was in it, with the noise of their roaring.
8 The people of the surrounding provinces attacked him, and spread their net over him, and he was captured in the ditch.
9 And they put him in a cage and led him in chains, and brought him to the king of Babylon; They placed him in the strongholds, so that his voice would no longer be heard on the mountains of Israel.
10 Your mother was like a vine in the midst of the vineyard, planted by the waters, bearing fruit and putting forth shoots because of the many waters.
11 And she had strong rods for kings’ scepters; and her stature rose above her among the branches, and she was seen because of her height and the multitude of her branches.
12 But it was uprooted in wrath, struck down to the ground, and the east wind withered its fruit; its strong branches were broken and withered; The fire consumed them.

13 And now it is planted in the desert, in a land of dryness and aridity.
14 And fire has come out of the rod from its branches, and has consumed its fruit, and there is no strong rod left in it for a king’s scepter. This is a dirge, and it will serve as a dirge.

Ezekiel Chapter 20

God's way of proceeding with Israel

1 It came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, that some of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the Lord, and sat down before me.
2 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
3 Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Do you come to consult me? As I live, I will not answer you, says the Lord God.
4 Do you want to judge them? Do you want to judge them, son of man? Make them know the abominations of their fathers,
5 and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: In the day that I chose Israel, and that I lifted up my hand to swear to the descendants of the house of Jacob, when I made myself known to them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up my hand and swore to them, saying, I am the Lord your God;
6 that day when I raised my hand to them, thus swearing that I would bring them out of the land of Egypt to the land that I had provided for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the most beautiful of all lands;
7 Then I said to them, Let each one cast out the abominations from before his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am Jehovah your God.
8 But they rebelled against me, and would not obey me; Each man did not cast out the abominations from before his eyes, nor did they leave the idols of Egypt; and I said that I would pour out my anger on them, to fulfill my anger on them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
9 Nevertheless, because of my name, so that it would not be disgraced in the eyes of the nations among whom they were, in whose eyes I was known, I acted to bring them out of the land of Egypt.
10 I brought them out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness,
11 and I gave them my statutes, and made known to them my decrees, by which the man who keeps them will live.
12 And I also gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord who sanctifies them.
13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness; They did not walk in my statutes, and they rejected my decrees, by which the man who does them will live; and they greatly desecrated my Sabbaths; I said, therefore, that I would pour out my wrath on them in the desert to destroy them.
14 But I acted for my name’s sake, so that it would not be disgraced in the sight of the nations before whose eyes I had brought them out.
15 I also raised my hand to them in the wilderness, swearing that I would not bring them to the land that I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the most beautiful of all lands;
16because they rejected my decrees, and did not walk in my statutes, and they profaned my sabbaths, because their heart went after their idols.
17 Yet my eye spared them, for I did not kill them, nor exterminate them in the wilderness;
18 But I said to their children in the wilderness: Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor keep their laws, nor defile yourselves with their idols.
19 I am the Lord your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my precepts, and do them;

20 and sanctify my Sabbaths, and let them be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God.
21 But the children rebelled against me; They did not walk in my statutes, nor did they keep my decrees to do them, by which the man who does them will live; They desecrated my days of rest. I said then that I would pour out my wrath on them, to fulfill my wrath on them in the wilderness.
22 But I withdrew my hand because of my name, so that it would not become infamous in the sight of the nations before whose eyes I had brought them out.
23 I also raised my hand to them in the wilderness, swearing that I would scatter them among the nations, and that I would disperse them throughout the lands,
24 because they did not carry out my decrees, but rejected my statutes and profaned my Sabbaths, and after The idols of their fathers went out of their sight.
25 Therefore I also gave them statutes that were not good, and decrees by which they could not live.
26 And I defiled them in their offerings when they made every firstborn pass through the fire, to desolate them and to make them know that I am Jehovah.
27 Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Even in this your fathers reproached me when they transgressed against me.

28 For I brought them to the land over which I had raised my hand, swearing that I would give it to them, and they looked at every high hill and every leafy tree, and there they sacrificed their victims, and there they presented offerings that irritate me, there they also laid their pleasant incense, and there they poured out their libations.

29 And I said to them, What is that high place where you are going? And his name was called Bama to this day.
30 Therefore say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord God: Do you not defile yourselves after the manner of your fathers, and commit fornication after their abominations?
31 For by offering your offerings, by making your children pass through the fire, you have defiled yourselves with all your idols until today; And shall I answer you, house of Israel? As I live, says the Lord God, I will not answer you.

32 And it must not be what you have thought. Because you say: Let us be like the nations, like the other families of the earth, who serve stick and stone.
33 As I live, says the Lord GOD, I will reign over you with a strong hand and outstretched arm and poured out wrath;
34 And I will bring you out from among the people, and I will gather you from the lands where you are scattered, with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, and with anger poured out;
35 and I will bring you to the desert of the peoples, and there I will argue with you face to face.
36 As I argued with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I argue with you, says the Lord GOD.
37 I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will cause you to enter into the bonds of the covenant;
38 and I will remove from among you the rebels, and those who rebelled against me; I will bring them out of the land of their wanderings, but they will not enter the land of Israel; and you will know that I am Jehovah.
39 And to you, O house of Israel, thus says the Lord God: Go every one after his idols, and serve them, if you do not obey me; but do not profane my holy name anymore with your offerings and with your idols.
40 But on my holy mountain, on the high mountain of Israel, says the Lord God, there will serve me all the house of Israel, all of them in the land; there I will accept them, and there I will demand your offerings, and the first fruits of your gifts, with all your consecrated things.
41 I will accept you as pleasant incense, when I have brought you out from among the peoples, and gathered you from the lands where you are scattered; and I will be sanctified in you in the eyes of the nations.
42 And you will know that I am the Lord, when I have brought you into the land of Israel, the land for which I raised my hand swearing that I would give it to your fathers.
43 And there you will remember your ways, and all your deeds in which you defiled yourselves; and you will hate yourselves because of all your sins that you committed.
44 And you will know that I am the Lord, when I deal with you for My name’s sake, not according to your evil ways nor according to your perverse works, O house of Israel, says the Lord God.

Prophecy against the Negev

45 The word of the Lord came to me, saying:
46 Son of man, turn your face toward the south, pour out your word toward the south, prophesy against the forest of the Negev.
47 And you shall say to the forest of the Negev, Hear the word of the Lord: Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will kindle fire in you, and it will consume in you every green tree and every dry tree; the flame of the fire will not be quenched; and all faces will be burned in it, from the south to the north.
48 And all flesh will see that I, the Lord, have kindled it; it won’t go out.
49 And I said: Ah, Lord Jehovah! They say of me: Does not this man speak parables?

Ezekiel Chapter 21

The sharp sword of Jehovah

1 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
2 Son of man, set your face against Jerusalem, and pour out a word on the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the land of Israel.
3 You shall say to the land of Israel, Thus says the LORD: Behold, I am against you, and I will draw my sword out of its sheath, and I will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked.
4 And because I will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked, therefore my sword will come out of its sheath against all flesh, from the south to the north.
5 And all flesh will know that I, the Lord, took my sword out of its sheath; I won’t sheathe it anymore.
6 And you, son of man, groan with the brokenness of your loins and with bitterness; he moans before their eyes.
7 And when they say to you, Why do you groan? you will say: Because of a news that when it comes will make every heart fail, and every hand will weaken, and every spirit will be distressed, and every knee will be weak as water; Behold, it is coming, and it will be done, says the Lord God.
8 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
9 Son of man, prophesy and say, Thus says the Lord God: Say, The sword, the sword is sharp, and also polished.
10 It is sharpened to slaughter victims, it is polished so that it shines. Should we rejoice? He has despised my son’s scepter like any other stick.
11 And he polished it to have it at hand; The sword is sharp, and is polished to deliver it into the hand of the killer.
12 Cry and mourn, O son of man; because it will be on my people, it will be on all the princes of Israel; They will fall by the sword along with my people; So wound your thigh;
13 because it is proven. So what if the sword even despises the scepter? He will be no more, says the Lord God.
14 You therefore, son of man, prophesy, and strike one hand against another, and let the fury of the murderous sword be doubled and tripled; This is the sword of great slaughter that will pierce them,
15 so that the heart may faint, and the havoc may multiply; I have put the fear of a sword in all their doors. Ah! It is ready to shine, and ready to slaughter.
16 Cut on the right, strike on the left, wherever you turn.
17 And I also will shake my hand against my hand, and make my anger rest. I, Jehovah, have spoken.
18 The word of the Lord came to me, saying:
19 You, son of man, make two paths for the sword of the king of Babylon to come; both come out of the same land; and put a sign at the beginning of each road, indicating the city to which it goes.
twentyYou will mark the way where the sword comes to Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and to Judah against Jerusalem, the fortified city.
21 For the king of Babylon has stopped at a crossroads, at the beginning of the two roads, to use divination; He shook the arrows, consulted his idols, looked at the liver.

22 Divination pointed to his right hand, over Jerusalem, to give the order to attack, to begin the slaughter, to raise his voice in a war cry, to set battering rams against the gates, to erect fences, and to build towers of fire. place.

23 But to them this will be like lying divination, since he has sworn solemn oaths to them; but he brings to remembrance their wickedness, to arrest them.
24 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have brought to remembrance your iniquities, revealing your treacheries, and revealing your sins in all your works; Because you have come in remembrance, you will be delivered into his hand.
25 And you, profane and wicked prince of Israel, whose day has come, the time of the consummation of wickedness,
26 thus says the Lord God: Put down the tiara, take away the crown; This will no longer be like this; Let the low be exalted, and the high humbled.
27 I will bring it to ruin, to ruin, to ruin, and it will be no more, until he comes whose right it is, and I will give it to him.

Judgment against the Ammonites

28 And you, son of man, prophesy and say: Thus says the Lord God concerning the children of Ammon, and about their reproach. You will say, then: The sword, the sword is drawn to slaughter; to consume is polished with brilliance.
29 They prophesy to you vanity, they tell you a lie, so that you may use it on the necks of the wicked sentenced to death, whose day came at the time of the consummation of wickedness.
30 Shall I return it to its sheath? In the place where you were raised, in the land where you have lived, I will judge you,
31 and I will pour out my wrath on you; I will light the fire of my anger on you, and I will deliver you into the hand of reckless men, workers of destruction.
32 You will be food for fire, the earth will be soaked in your blood; There will be no more memory of you, for I, the Lord, have spoken.

Ezekiel Chapter 22

The sins of Jerusalem

1 The word of the Jehovah came to me, saying,
2 You, son of man, will you not judge, will you not judge the city that sheds blood, and show it all its abominations?
3 Therefore you shall say, Thus says the Lord GOD: A city that sheds blood in its midst, for its hour to come, and that has made idols against itself to defile itself!
4 In your blood that you shed you have sinned, and you have defiled yourself in your idols that you made; and you have brought your day near, and you have come to the end of your years; Therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations, and a derision to all lands.
5 Those who are near you and those who are far away will laugh at you, tainted by name, and greatly troubled.
6 Behold, the princes of Israel, each according to his power, strive to shed blood.
7 They despised father and mother in you; They treated the foreigner with violence in your midst; They have spoiled the orphan and the widow in you.
8 You have despised my sanctuaries, and you have profaned my sabbaths.
9 There were slanderers in you to shed blood; and on the mountains they ate in you; They did wicked things among you.
10 They discovered the nakedness of the father in you, and they did violence to her who was unclean because of her menstruation.
11 Each one did an abomination to his neighbor’s wife, each one pervertedly defiled his daughter-in-law, and each one violated his sister, the daughter of his father, in you.
12 They received a price on you to shed blood; You took interest and usury, and you defrauded your neighbors with violence; you have forgotten me, says the Lord God.
13 And behold, I clapped my hands because of your covetousness that you committed, and because of the blood that you shed in your midst.
14 Will your heart be firm? Will your hands be strong in the days when I proceed against you? I, the Lord, have spoken, and I will do it.
15 I will scatter you among the nations, and I will scatter you throughout the lands; and I will make your filth disappear from you.
16 And by yourself you will be degraded in the sight of the nations; and you will know that I am Jehovah.
17 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
18 Son of man, the house of Israel has become dross to me; They are all bronze and tin and iron and lead in the middle of the furnace; and they became dross of silver.
19 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have all become dross, therefore, behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.
twentyAs one gathers silver and bronze and iron and lead and tin in the midst of the furnace, to kindle a fire in it to melt them, so I will gather you together in my fury and in my wrath, and I will put you there, and I will melt you.

21 I will gather you together and blow on you in the fire of my fury, and you will be melted in the midst of it.
22 As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so you will be melted in the midst of it; and you will know that I, the Lord, will have poured out my anger on you.
23 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
24 Son of man, say to her: You are not a clean land, nor sprinkled with rain in the day of fury.
25 There is a conspiracy of her prophets in her midst, like a roaring lion that snatches prey; They devoured souls, took property and honor, multiplied her widows in her midst.
26 Her priests violated my law, and defiled my sanctuaries; They made no difference between the holy and the profane, nor did they distinguish between unclean and clean; and they have turned their eyes away from my Sabbaths, and I have been desecrated among them.
27 Her princes in her midst are like wolves that snatch prey, shedding blood, to destroy souls, to obtain unjust gains.
28 And they covered her prophets with loose mud, prophesying vanity to them and prophesying lies to them, saying, Thus says the Lord God; and the Lord had not spoken.
29 The people of the land used oppression and committed robbery, they did violence to the afflicted and needy, and they oppressed the foreigner without right.
30 And I looked for a man among them to make a hedge and to stand in the gap before me, on behalf of the land, so that I would not destroy it; and I didn’t find it.
31 Therefore I poured out my anger on them; with the heat of my anger I consumed them; I have turned their way on their own heads, says the Lord GOD.

Ezekiel Chapter 23

The two sister's

1 The word of the Lord came to me, saying:
2 Son of man, there were two women, daughters of a mother,
3 who committed fornication in Egypt; In their youth they committed fornication. There her breasts were pressed, there her virginal breasts were squeezed.
4 And their name was the eldest Ahola, and her sister Aholibah; which became mine, and bore sons and daughters. And their names were: Samaria, Ahola; and Jerusalem, Oholibah.
5 And Ahola committed fornication even though she was in my power; and she fell in love with his lovers, the Assyrians, her neighbors,
6 dressed in purple, governors and captains, all of them desirable young men, riders on horseback.
7 And she played the harlot with them, with all the choicest of the children of the Assyrians, and with all those with whom she fell in love with her; He defiled himself with all their idols.
8 And he did not leave his fornications of Egypt; for they lay down with her in her youth, and they pressed her virginal breasts, and poured out her fornication on her.
9 Therefore I gave her into the hand of her lover, into the hand of the sons of the Assyrians, with whom she had fallen in love with her.
10 They discovered her nakedness, took her sons and her daughters, and killed her with the sword; and she became famous among women, because they made an example of her.
11 And her sister Aholibah saw it, and she became madder with lust than she; and her fornications were more than the fornications of her sister.
12 She fell in love with the sons of the Assyrians who were her neighbors, governors and captains, dressed in excellent clothing and weapons, riders who rode on horses, all of them desirable young men.
13 And I saw that she had become defiled; The same path was that of both.
14 And she increased her fornications; for when he saw men painted on the wall, images of Chaldeans painted in color,
15 girded around their loins with belts, and colored tiaras on their heads, all of them having the appearance of captains, after the manner of the men of Babylon, Chaldea, the land of his birth,
16 fell in love with them at first sight, and sent messengers to them to the land of the Chaldeans.
17 So the men of Babylon came to her in her love bed, and defiled her, and she also became defiled with them, and her soul was weary of them.
18 Thus he revealed her fornications and exposed her nakedness, so that my soul became weary of her, just as my soul had already become weary of her sister.
19 She even multiplied her fornications, bringing to remembrance the days of her youth, in which she had committed fornication in the land of Egypt.
twentyAnd he fell in love with his ruffians, whose lust is like the carnal ardor of donkeys, and whose flow is like the flow of horses.
21 Thus you brought back to memory the lust of your youth, when the Egyptians pressed your breasts, the breasts of your youth.
22 Therefore, Oholibah, thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will raise up against you your lovers, with whom your soul is fed up, and I will cause them to come against you around you;
23 Babylon, and all the Chaldeans, Pecod, Soa, and Coa, and all Assyria with them; desirable young men, governors and captains, nobles and men of renown, all of whom ride horses.
24 And chariots, carts, and wheels, and multitudes of people, will come against you. Shields, bucklers, and helmets they will set against you around you; and I will set judgment before them, and they will judge you by their laws.
25 And I will set my jealousy against you, and they will proceed against you with fury; They will take away your nose and your ears, and what is left will fall by the sword. They will take your sons and your daughters, and your remnant will be consumed by fire.
26 And they will strip you of your clothes, and they will take from you all the adornments of your beauty.
27 And I will cause your lust to cease from you, and your fornication from the land of Egypt; and you will no longer lift your eyes to them, nor will you remember Egypt any more.
28 For thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I give you into the hand of those whom you hated, into the hand of those with whom your soul is fed up;
29 who will treat you with hatred, and will take all the fruit of your labor, and will leave you naked and uncovered; and the filthiness of your fornications, and your lust, and your prostitution, will be revealed.

30 These things will be done to you because you went fornication after the nations, with whom you defiled yourself in their idols.
31 You walked in your sister’s way; I will therefore put her cup in your hand.
32 Thus says the Lord GOD: You will drink your sister’s deep and wide cup, which is of great capacity; The nations will mock you and mock you.
33 You will be filled with drunkenness and pain from the cup of loneliness and desolation, from the cup of your sister Samaria.
34 You will drink it therefore, and you will exhaust it, and you will break the potsherds of it; and you will tear your breasts, because I have spoken, says the Lord God.
35 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have forgotten me, and have cast me behind your back, therefore you also bear your lust and your fornications.
36 And the LORD said to me, Son of man, will you not judge Ohola and Aholibah, and tell them their abominations?
37 Because they have committed adultery, and there is blood on their hands, and they have committed fornication with their idols; and even their children whom they had borne for me, they made to pass through the fire, burning them.
38 They did even this more to me: they defiled my sanctuary on that day, and profaned my sabbaths.
39 For having sacrificed their children to their idols, they entered my sanctuary on the same day to defile it; and behold, thus they did in the midst of my house.
40 Furthermore, they sent for men from afar, to whom a messenger had been sent, and, behold, they came; and for their love you washed yourself, and painted your eyes, and adorned yourself with ornaments;
41 and you sat on a sumptuous footstool, and a table was prepared before it, and you placed my incense and my oil on it.
42 And the voice of company was heard in her, rejoicing with her; and with the men of the common people the Sabeans were brought from the desert, and they put bracelets on their hands, and beautiful crowns on their heads.
43 And I said concerning her being old in her adulteries: Will they still commit fornications with her, and she with them?
44 For they have come to her as one comes to a harlot woman; so they came to Ahola and Aholibah, depraved women.
45 Therefore, righteous men will judge them by the law of adulteresses, and by the law of those who shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and there is blood on their hands.
46 For thus says the Lord GOD: I will bring up troops against them, I will deliver them to confusion and plunder,
47 and the mobs will stone them, and pierce them with their swords; They will kill their sons and their daughters, and they will consume their houses with fire.
48And I will cause the lust of the land to cease, and all women will be taught, and will not do according to your perversities.
49 And they will put your perversities on you, and you will pay for the sins of your idolatry; and you will know that I am the Lord God.

Ezekiel Chapter 24

Parable of the boiling pot

1 The word of the Lord came to me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, saying,
2 Son of man, write the date of this day; The king of Babylon laid siege to Jerusalem this very day.
3 And he speaks in a parable to the rebellious house, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Set up a pot, set it down, and put water into it also;
4 gathers his pieces of meat in it; all good pieces, leg and back; Fill it with chosen bones.
5 Take a choice sheep, and also set the bones under it on fire; make it boil well; It also cooks its bones within it.
6 For thus says the Lord God: Woe to the city of blood, to the rusty pot whose rust has not been removed! Take it out by its pieces, by its pieces, without casting lots on it.
7 For his blood is in the midst of it; On a smooth stone he has poured it; He did not pour it out on the earth to be covered with dust.
8 Therefore, having caused anger to take revenge, I will put its blood on the hard stone, so that it will not be covered.
9 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Woe to the city of blood! For I will also make a great bonfire,
10 multiplying the wood, and lighting the fire to consume the meat and make the sauce; and the bones will be burned.
11 Then setting the empty pot on its coals, so that it becomes hot, and its bottom burns, and its dirt melts in it, and its rust is consumed.
12 In vain he was weary, and the great rust did not come out of her. Only in fire will their rust be consumed.
13 You will suffer in your filthy lust, because I cleansed you, and you did not cleanse yourself from your filthiness; You will never be cleansed again, until I satisfy my anger on you.
14 I, the Lord, have spoken; He will come, and I will do it. I will not turn back, nor show mercy, nor repent; They will judge you according to your ways and your works, says the Lord God.

Death of Ezekiel's wife

15 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
16 Son of man, behold, I am taking away the pleasure of your eyes; do not lament, nor cry, nor let your tears flow.
17 Restrain sighing, do not mourn for mortuaries; Tie your turban on yourself, and put your shoes on your feet, and do not cover yourself with a shawl, nor eat the bread of those in mourning.

18 I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the afternoon my wife died; And in the morning I did as she commanded me.
19 And the people said to me, Will you not teach us what these things that you do mean to us?
20 And I said to them, The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
21 Say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the glory of your might, the desire of your eyes and the delight of your soul; and your sons and your daughters whom you left will fall by the sword.
22 And you will do as I did; You shall not cover yourselves with shawls, nor eat the bread of men in mourning.
23 Your turbans will be on your heads, and your shoes on your feet; You will not mourn or cry, but you will waste away because of your iniquities, and you will groan one with another.
24 Therefore Ezekiel will be a sign to you; According to all things that he made, you will do; When this happens, then you will know that I am the Lord God.
25 And you, son of man, in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the delight of their eyes and the longing of their souls, and also their sons and their daughters,
26 that day will come to you one who has escaped to bring the news.
27 On that day your mouth will be opened to speak to the fugitive, and you will speak, and you will no longer be dumb; and you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am Jehovah.
