Psalms 101-125

Psalms Chapter 101

promise to live righteously

1 I will sing of mercy and judgment; I will sing to you, O Jehovah.
2 I will understand the path of perfection When you come to me. In the integrity of my heart I will walk in the midst of my house.
3 I will not set anything unrighteous before my eyes. I hate the work of those who go astray; None of them will come to me.
4 A perverse heart will depart from me; I will not know the evil one.
5 He who sneakily slanders his neighbor, I will destroy; I will not suffer him with haughty eyes and a vain heart.
6 I will set my eyes on the faithful of the land, that they may be with me; He who walks in the path of perfection, he will serve me.
7 He who commits fraud will not live in my house; He who speaks lies will not establish himself before my eyes.
8 In the morning I will destroy all the wicked of the land, to destroy from the city of the Lord all who do iniquity.

Psalms Chapter 102

Prayer of the afflicted

1 Jehovah, hear my prayer, And let my cry come to you.
2 Do not hide your face from me in the day of my trouble; Incline your ear to me; Hurry to answer me on the day I call upon you.
3 For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned like a brand.
4 My heart is wounded, and dry as grass, Therefore I forget to eat my bread.
5 By the voice of my groaning My bones have stuck to my flesh.
6 I am like the pelican of the desert; I am like the owl of loneliness;
7 I watch, and I am Like the solitary bird on the roof.
8 My enemies reproach me daily; Those who rage against me have conspired against me.
9 Therefore I eat ashes as bread, And I mix my drink with tears,
10 Because of your anger and your wrath; For you lifted me up and threw me down.
11 My days are like a passing shadow, And I have withered like grass.
12 But you, Jehovah, will remain forever, and your memory from generation to generation.
13 You will arise and have mercy on Zion, For it is time to have mercy on her, because the deadline has come.
14 For your servants love its stones, And have compassion on its dust.
15 Then the nations will fear the name of the Lord, And all the kings of the earth will fear your glory;
16 For the Lord will have built Zion, and it will be seen in its glory;
17 He will have considered the prayer of the helpless, And he will not have rejected their prayer.
18 This will be written for the generation to come; And the people yet to be born will praise JAH,
19 For he looked down from the height of his sanctuary; The Lord looked down from the heavens to the earth,
20 To hear the groaning of the prisoners, To release those sentenced to death;

21 That he may publish the name of the Lord in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem,
22 When people and kingdoms are gathered together in one to serve the Lord.
23 He weakened my strength in the way; He shortened my days.
24 I said: My God, do not cut me off in half my days; For generation of generations are your years.
25 From the beginning you founded the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
26 They will perish, but you will remain; And all of them will grow old like a garment; Like a garment you will change them, and they will be changed;
27 But you are the same, And your years will not end.
28 The children of your servants will dwell safely, And their descendants will be established before you.

Psalms Chapter 103

Praise for God's blessings

1 Bless the Lord, my soul, and bless all my being his holy name.
2 Bless the Lord, my soul, and forget not any of his benefits.
3 He is the one who forgives all your iniquities, the one who heals all your diseases;
4 He who rescues your life from the pit, He who crowns you with favors and mercies;
5 He who satisfies your mouth with good So that you may be rejuvenated like the eagle.
6 Jehovah is the one who gives justice and right to all those who suffer violence.
7 He reported his ways to Moses, and his works to the children of Israel.
8 Jehovah is merciful and gracious; He is slow to anger, and great in mercy.
9 He will not contend forever, Nor will he keep anger forever.
10 He has not dealt with us according to our iniquities, Nor has he repaid us according to our sins.
11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, he magnifies his mercy on those who fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, he has removed our transgressions from us.
13 As a father has compassion on his children, the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.

14 For he knows our condition; He remembers that we are dust.
15 Man, his days are like grass; It flourishes like the flower of the field,
16 The wind passed through it, and it perished, and its place will be known no more.
17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness upon children’s children;

18 On those who keep his covenant, and those who remember his commandments to do them.
19 The Lord established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.
20 Bless the Lord, you his angels, Mighty in strength, who execute his word, Obeying the voice of his commandment.
21 Bless the Lord, all of you his hosts, his ministers, who do his will.
22 Bless the Lord, ye all his works, In all the places of his dominion. Bless the Lord, my soul.

Psalms Chapter 104

God takes care of his creation

1 Bless the Lord, my soul. Jehovah my God, you have become very great; You have dressed yourself in glory and magnificence.
2 He who covers himself with light as with a garment, Who spreads out the heavens like a curtain,
3 Who establishes his chambers among the waters, Who makes the clouds his chariot, He who walks on the wings of the wind;
4 He who makes the winds his messengers, and the flames of fire his ministers.
5 He founded the earth on his foundation; It will never be removed.
6 With the abyss, as with a garment, you covered it; Over the Monts it was the waters.
7 At your rebuke they fled; At the sound of your thunder they hastened;
8 The mountains went up, the valleys went down, To the place that you founded for them.
9 You have set a boundary for them, which they will not pass through, Nor will they cover the earth again.
10 You are the one who sends fountains into streams; They go among the mountains;
11 They give drink to all the beasts of the field; The wild donkeys quench their thirst.
12 The birds of the air live on its banks; They sing among the branches.
13 He waters the mountains from his chambers; The earth is satisfied with the fruit of his works.
14 He causes hay to be produced for the beasts, And grass for the service of man, Bringing out bread from the earth,
15 And wine that gladdens the heart of man, Oil that makes the face shine, And bread that sustains the life of man.
16 The trees of the Lord are filled with sap, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.
17 There the birds nest; In the beech trees he makes his stork’s house.
18 The high mountains for the wild goats; The rocks, burrows for rabbits.
19 He made the moon for the ages; The sun knows the setting of it.
20 You put darkness, and it is night; All the beasts of the jungle run around in it.
21 The young lions roar after their prey, And to seek their food from God.
22 The sun rises, they gather together, and lie down in their caves.
23 The man goes out to his work, And to his plowing until the evening.
24 How innumerable are your works, O Jehovah! You did all of them with wisdom; The earth is full of your benefits.
25 Behold the great and wide sea, Where innumerable beings move, Beings small and great.

26 There the ships sail; There is this leviathan that you made to play in it.
27 They all wait on you, so that you can give them their food in due season.
28 You give them, they collect; You open your hand, they are satisfied with good.
29 You hide your face, they are troubled; You take away their breath, they cease to be, And they return to dust.
30 You send your Spirit, they are created, And you renew the face of the earth.
31 Be the glory of the Lord forever; May the Lord rejoice in his works.
32 He looks at the earth, and it trembles; He touches the mountains, and they smoke.
33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing psalms to my God as long as he lives.
34 Sweet will be my meditation on him; I will rejoice in the Lord.
35 Let the sinners be consumed from the earth, and the wicked cease to be. Bless the Lord, my soul. Hallelujah.

Psalms Chapter 105

Wonders of Jehovah in favor of Israel

1 Praise the Jehovah, call on his name; Make his works known in the towns.
2 Sing to him, sing psalms to him; Talk about all the wonders of him.
3 Glory in his holy name; Let the hearts of those who seek Jehovah be glad.
4 Seek the Lord and his power; Always seek his face.
5 Remember the wonders that he has done, the wonders of him and the judgments of his mouth,
6 O you descendants of Abraham, his servant, sons of Jacob, his chosen ones.
7 He is Jehovah our God; His judgments are in all the earth.
8 He remembered his covenant forever; Of the word which he commanded for a thousand generations,
9 Which he agreed with Abraham, and of his oath to Isaac.
10 He established it for Jacob by decree, for Israel for an everlasting covenant,
11 Saying, I will give you the land of Canaan as a portion of your inheritance.
12 When they were few in number, And strangers in it,
13 And they went from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people,
14 He did not allow anyone to wrong them, And on their account he punished the kings.
15 Touch not, he said, my anointed, Nor do harm to my prophets.
16 He brought famine upon the land, And he broke every supply of bread.
17 He sent a man before them; To Joseph, who was sold as a servant.
18 They afflicted his feet with fetters; His person was put in prison.
19 Until the hour when his word was fulfilled, the saying of the Lord tested him.
20 The king sent and released him; The lord of the peoples, and let him go free.
21 He made him lord of his house, and governor of all his possessions,
22 so that he might suppress his nobles as he pleased, and teach his elders wisdom.
23 Then Israel entered Egypt, and Jacob dwelt in the land of Ham.
24 And he multiplied his people greatly, and he made them stronger than his enemies.
25 He changed their hearts so that they hated his people, so that they thought evil against his servants.
26 He sent his servant Moses, and Aaron, whom he chose.
27 He put in them the words of his signs, and his wonders in the land of Ham.

28 He sent darkness that darkened everything; They were not rebellious to his word.
29 He turned its waters into blood, And killed its fish.
30 His land produced frogs even in the chambers of his kings.
31 He spoke, and swarms of flies came, and lice in all his surroundings.
32 He gave them hail for rain, And flames of fire in his land.
33 He destroyed his vineyards and his fig trees, and broke the trees of his territory.
34 He spoke, and locusts came, And aphids without number;
35 And they ate all the grass of his land, and devoured the fruit of his land.
36 He smote to death all the firstborn in his land, the firstfruits of all his strength.
37 He brought them out with silver and gold; And there was none in his tribes sick of him.
38 Egypt was glad that they came out, because their terror had fallen on them.
39 He spread a cloud for cover, And fire to light the night.
40 He asked, and brought quails; And he satisfied them with bread from heaven.
41 He opened the rock, and waters flowed out; They ran through the drylands like a river.
42 For he remembered his holy word given to Abraham his servant.
43 He brought the people out of him with joy; With joy to his chosen ones.
44 He gave them the lands of the nations, And they inherited the labors of the people;
45 So that they would keep their statutes, And fulfill their laws. Hallelujah.

Psalms Chapter 106

Israel's rebellion

1 Hallelujah. Praise the Lord, for he is good; For his mercy endures forever.
2 Who will express the mighty works of Jehovah? Who will tell his praises?
3 Blessed are those who keep judgment, Those who do justice at all times.
4 Remember me, O Lord, according to your kindness to your people; Visit me with your salvation,
5 That I may see the good of your chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the joy of your nation, and glory in your inheritance.
6 We sin, like our fathers; We did iniquity, we did impiety.
7 Our fathers in Egypt did not understand your wonders; They did not remember the multitude of your mercies, But they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea.
8 But he saved them for his name’s sake, to make his power known.
9 He rebuked the Red Sea and dried it up, and made them go through the abyss as through a desert.
10 He saved them from the hand of the enemy, And he rescued them from the hand of the adversary.
11 The waters covered his enemies; Not one of them remained.
12 Then they believed his words and sang his praise.
13 They soon forgot his works; They did not wait for his advice.
14 They gave themselves over to disordered desire in the desert; And they tempted God in solitude.
15 And he gave them what they asked for; But he sent destruction upon them.
16 They were envious of Moses in the camp, and against Aaron, the holy one of the Lord.
17 Then the earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
18 And a fire was kindled in his assembly; The flame burned the wicked.
19 They made a calf in Horeb, They bowed down before a molten image.
20 Thus they exchanged their glory for the image of an ox that eats grass.
21 They forgot the God of their salvation, Who had done great things in Egypt,
22 Wonders in the land of Ham, Terrible things over the Red Sea.
23 And he sought to destroy them, had not Moses his chosen one stood before him, in order to turn away his indignation from him, so that he would not destroy them.
24 But they hated the desirable land; They did not believe his word,
25 But they murmured in their tents, and did not listen to the voice of the Lord.
26 Therefore he lifted up his hand against them to strike them down in the wilderness,
27 and to humiliate his people among the nations, and to scatter them throughout the lands.

28 They also joined Baal-peor, And ate the sacrifices of the dead.
29 They provoked the wrath of God with their works, And mortality spread among them.
30 Then Phinehas arose and executed judgment, and the plague was stopped;

31 And it was counted to him as righteousness From generation to generation forever.
32 They also irritated him at the waters of Meribah; And it went badly with Moses because of them,
33 Because they made his spirit rebel, and he spoke hastily with his lips.
34 They did not destroy the peoples that Jehovah told them about;
35 But they mingled with the nations, and learned their works,
36 and served their idols, which were the cause of their ruin.
37 They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons,
38 And they shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and their daughters, Which they offered as a sacrifice to the idols of Canaan, And the land was defiled with blood.
39 Thus they defiled themselves with their works, And they became prostitutes with their deeds.
40 Therefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his inheritance;
41 He gave them into the power of the nations, and those who hated them ruled over them.
42 His enemies oppressed them, and they were broken under his hand.
43 He many times he delivered them; But they rebelled against his counsel, and were humbled by his wickedness.
44 Yet he looked when they were in distress, And he heard their cry;
45 And he remembered his covenant with them, and he repented according to the multitude of his mercy.
46 He also caused all those who held them captive to have mercy on them.
47 Save us, Jehovah our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may praise your holy name, that we may glory in your praises.
48 Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting; And all the people say, Amen. Hallelujah.

Psalms Chapter 107

God delivers from affliction

1 Praise the Lord, for he is good; For his mercy endures forever.
2 Let the redeemed of Jehovah say it, Those whom he has redeemed from the power of the enemy,
3 And he has gathered them from the lands, From the east and from the west, From the north and from the south.
4 They wandered lost in the desert, in the loneliness without a path, without finding a city to live in.
5 Hungry and thirsty, Their soul fainted within them.
6 Then they cried to the LORD in their distress, and he delivered them from their afflictions.
7 He led them on a straight path, that they might come to a habitable city.
8 Praise the mercy of the LORD, and his wonderful works toward the children of men.
9 For he satisfies the needy soul, and fills the hungry soul with good.
10 Some dwelt in darkness and the shadow of death, imprisoned in affliction and in irons,
11 Because they were rebellious to the words of the Lord, and hated the counsel of the Most High.
12 Therefore he broke his hearts with work; They fell, and there was no one to help them.
13 After they cried to the LORD in his distress, he delivered them from his afflictions;
14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains.
15 Praise the mercy of the LORD, and his wonderful works toward the children of men.
16 For he broke the gates of bronze, and broke into pieces the bars of iron.
17 The fools were afflicted, because of the way of their rebellion And because of their iniquities;
18 His soul abhorred all food, and they came to the gates of death.
19 But they cried to the LORD in his distress, and he delivered them from his afflictions.
20 He sent the word from him, and healed them, and delivered them from their ruin.
21 Praise the mercy of the LORD, and his wonderful works toward the children of men;
22 Offer sacrifices of praise, And publish your works with joy.
23 Those who go down to the sea in ships, And do business in many waters,
24 They have seen the works of the Lord, And his wonders in the depths.
25 For he spoke, and caused a stormy wind to arise, which made the waves of him rise.
26 They ascend to the heavens, they descend to the abysses; Their souls melt with evil.
27 They tremble and hesitate like drunks, And all their knowledge is useless.
28 Then they cry to the LORD in his distress, And he delivers them from his afflictions.

29 The storm changes into calm, And its waves are calm.
30 Then they rejoice, because they are appeased; And so he guides them to the port they desired.
31 Praise the mercy of the LORD, and his wonderful works toward the children of men.

32 Exalt him in the congregation of the people, And praise him in the meeting of elders.
33 He turns the rivers into a desert, And the springs of water into drylands;
34 The fruitful land becomes barren, Because of the wickedness of those who inhabit it.
35 He turns the wilderness into pools of water, And the dry land into springs.
36 There he establishes the hungry, And they found a city to live in.
37 They sow fields, and plant vineyards, And yield abundant fruit.
38 He blesses them, and they multiply greatly; And he does not diminish his cattle.
39 Then they are diminished and brought down Because of tyranny, evils and distress.
40 He spreads contempt on princes, And makes them wander, wandering, and without a way.
41 He lifts up the poor from misery, And he makes families multiply like flocks of sheep.
42 Let the upright see it and rejoice, And all the wicked shut their mouths.
43 Who is wise and will keep these things, And he will understand the mercies of the Lord?

Psalms Chapter 108

Request for help against the enemy

1 My heart is ready, O God; I will sing and sing psalms; this is my glory.
2 Awake, psaltery and harp; I will wake up at dawn.
3 I will praise you, O Lord, among the people; To you I will sing praises among the nations.
4 For your mercy is greater than the heavens, and your truth even to the heavens.
5 Be exalted above the heavens, O God, and may your glory be exalted above all the earth.
6 That your loved ones may be delivered, Save with your right hand and answer me.
7 God has said in his sanctuary: I will rejoice; I will divide Shechem, and measure the valley of Sukkot.
8 Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine, and Ephraim is the fortress of my head; Judah is my legislator.
9 Moab, the vessel for washing me; I will cast my shoes on Edom; I will rejoice over Philistia.
10 Who will guide me to the fortified city? Who will guide me to Edom?
11 Could it not be you, O God, who had rejected us, and did not go out, O God, with our armies?
12 Give us help against the adversary, For man’s help is in vain.
13 In God we will do mighty things, And he will trample down our enemies.

Psalms Chapter 109

Cry for revenge

1 O God of my praise, do not be silent;
2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceiver have opened against me; They have spoken about me with a lying tongue;
3 They have surrounded me with words of hatred, And they fought against me without cause.
4 In return for my love they have been adversaries to me; But I prayed.
5 They return evil for good, And hate for love.
6 Set the wicked over him, and Satan be at his right hand.
7 When he is judged, he will be found guilty; And his prayer be for sin.
8 Let your days be few; Take another’s office from him.
9 Let his children be orphans, and his wife his widow.
10 Let his sons wander and beg; And they procure their bread far away from their desolated homes.
11 Let the creditor take all that he has, And strangers plunder his work.
12 He has no one to show him mercy, Nor has anyone pity his orphans.
13 His posterity be destroyed; In the second generation let his name be erased.
14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord, and the sin of his mother may not be blotted out.
15 Be always before the Lord, and let him cut off the memory of him from the earth,
16 Because he did not remember to show mercy, and pursued the afflicted and needy man, the brokenhearted, to put him to death.
17 He loved the curse, and it came upon him; And she did not want the blessing, and she turned away from him.
18 She put on a curse like her garment, And it entered like water into her bowels, And like oil into her bones.
19 Let her be a garment for her to cover herself with, and instead of a belt for her to always gird herself.
20 Be this the recompense from the Lord to those who slander me, And to those who speak evil against my soul.
21 And you, Jehovah, my Lord, favor me for your name’s sake; Deliver me, for your mercy is good.
22 For I am afflicted and needy, And my heart is wounded within me.
23 I am gone like the shadow when it declines; I am shaken like a locust.

24 My knees are weak from fasting, and my flesh fails for lack of fat.
25 I have been an object of reproach to them; They looked at me and shook their heads mockingly.
26 Help me, Jehovah my God; Save me according to your mercy.
27 And understand that this is your hand; That you, Jehovah, have done this.
28 Let them curse, but you bless; Arise, but be ashamed, and let your servant rejoice.
29 Let those who slander me be clothed in ignominy; Be covered with confusion as with a cloak.
30 I will praise the Lord greatly with my mouth, And I will praise him among many.
31 For he will stand at the right hand of the poor, to deliver his soul from those who judge him.

Psalms Chapter 110

Jehovah gives dominion to the king

1 The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at my right hand, Until I make your enemies your footstool.
2 The Lord will send the rod of your power from Zion; He dominates in the midst of your enemies.
3 Your people will be offered to you willingly in the day of your power, In the beauty of holiness. From the bosom of the dawn You have the dew of your youth.
4 The Lord has sworn, and he will not repent: You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.
5 The Lord is at your right hand; He will break kings in the day of his wrath.
6 He will judge between the nations, he will fill them with corpses; He will break heads in many lands.
7 He will drink from the brook on the way, Therefore he will lift up his head.

Psalms Chapter 111

God takes care of his people

1 I will praise the Lord with all my heart In the company and congregation of the upright.
2 Great are the works of the Lord, sought after by all who desire them.
3 Glory and beauty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever.
4 He has made his wonders memorable; Gracious and merciful is Jehovah.
5 He has given food to those who fear him; Forever he will remember his covenant.
6 He manifested the power of his works to his people, giving them the inheritance of the nations.
7 The works of his hands are truth and judgment; All his commandments are faithful,
8 Established forever and ever, Done in truth and righteousness.
9 Redemption he has sent to his people; For ever he has ordained the covenant of it; Holy and fearsome is his name.
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; All those who practice his commandments have good understanding; His praise remains forever.

Psalms Chapter 112

Prosperity to him who fears Jehovah

1 Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, and greatly delights in his commandments.
2 His descendants will be powerful in the earth; The generation of the righteous will be blessed.
3 Goods and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.
4 He shined light in the darkness to the upright; He is gracious, merciful and just.
5 A good man has mercy and lends; He governs his affairs with judgment,
6 Therefore he will never slip; In eternal memory he will be the righteous one.
7 He will not be afraid of bad news; His heart is firm, trusting in Jehovah.
8 His heart is secure; He will not fear, Until he sees in his enemies his desire.
9 He distributes, he gives to the poor; His righteousness endures forever; His power will be exalted in glory.
10 The wicked will see it and be angry; He will gnash his teeth and waste away. The desire of the wicked will perish.

Psalms Chapter 113

God lifts up the poor

1 Praise, servants of the Lord, Praise the name of the Lord.
2 Blessed be the name of Jehovah from now on and forever.
3 From the rising of the sun to its setting, Praise be to the name of the Lord.
4 The Lord is exalted above all nations, His glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like the Lord our God, who sits on high,
6 who humbles himself to look at heaven and earth?
7 He lifts up the poor from the dust, And raises the needy from the dunghill,
8 To make them sit with the princes, With the princes of his people.
9 He makes the barren dwell in a family, That she rejoices in being the mother of children. Hallelujah.

Psalms Chapter 114

The wonders of the Exodus

1 When Israel came out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from the foreign people,
2 Judah became their sanctuary, and Israel their dominion.
3 The sea saw him, and fled; Jordan turned back.
4 The mountains skipped like rams, The hills like lambs.
5 What did you have, O sea, that you fled? And you, O Jordan, who turned back?
6 O mountains, why did you leap like rams, and you hills like little lambs?
7 At the presence of the Lord the earth trembles, at the presence of the God of Jacob,
8 Who changed the rock into a pool of water, and the rock into a fountain of water.

Psalms Chapter 115

God and idols

1 Not to us, O Lord, not to us, But give glory to your name, for your mercy, for your truth.
2 Why should people say, Where is your God now?
3 Our God is in heaven; Everything he wanted he has done.
4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.
5 They have a mouth, but they do not speak; They have eyes, but they do not see;
6 They have ears, but they do not hear; They have noses, but they do not smell;
7 They have hands, but they do not touch; They have feet, but they do not walk; They do not talk with their throats.
8 Those who make them are like them, and everyone who trusts in them.
9 O Israel, trust in the Lord; He is your help and your shield.
10 House of Aaron, trust in the Lord; He is your help, and your shield.
11 You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord; He is your help, and your shield.
12 The Lord remembered us; he will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron.
13 He will bless those who fear the Lord, both small and great.
14 The Lord will increase his blessing upon you; Upon you and your children.
15 Blessed are you of the Lord, who made the heavens and the earth.
16 The heavens are the heavens of the Lord; And he has given the land to the sons of men.
17 The dead will not praise JAH, Nor those who descend into silence;
18 But we will bless JAH From now on and forever. Hallelujah

Psalms Chapter 116

Thanksgiving for being delivered from death

1 I love the Lord, for he has heard My voice and my supplications;
2 For he has inclined his ear to me; Therefore I will call upon him in all my days.
3 The bands of death surrounded me, the troubles of Sheol found me; I had found anguish and pain.
4 Then I called on the name of the LORD, saying, O LORD, now deliver my soul.
5 Jehovah is gracious and just; Yes, our God is merciful.
6 The Lord preserves the simple; I was prostrate, and he saved me.
7 Return, O my soul, to your rest, For the Lord has done good to you.
8 For you have saved my soul from death, My eyes from tears, And my feet from slipping.
9 I will walk before the Lord In the land of the living.
10 I believed; therefore I spoke, being greatly afflicted.
11 And I said in my haste: Every man is a liar.
12 What shall I repay to Jehovah for all his benefits to me?
13 I will take the cup of salvation, and I will call on the name of the Lord.
14 Now I will pay my vows to Jehovah in front of all his people.
15 Dear is the death of his saints in the sight of Jehovah.
16 O Lord, surely I am your servant, I am your servant, the son of your handmaid; You have broken my prisons.

19 in the courts of the house of the Lord, in the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah.

Thanksgiving for salvation received from Jehovah

1 Praise the Lord, for he is good; For his mercy endures forever.

5 Out of distress I called upon JAH, And JAH answered me, placing me in a spacious place.
6 The Lord is with me; I will not fear What man can do to me.
7 The Lord is with me among those who help me; Therefore I will see my desire in those who hate me.
8 It is better to trust in the Lord than to trust in man.
9 It is better to trust in the Lord than to trust in princes.
10 All nations surrounded me; But in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.
11 They surrounded me and besieged me; But in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.
12 They surrounded me like bees; They burned like fire from thorns; But in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.
13 You pushed me violently so that I would fall, but the Lord helped me.
14 My strength and my song is JAH, and he has been my salvation.
15 There is a voice of joy and salvation in the tents of the righteous; The right hand of the Lord does mighty things.
16 The right hand of the Lord is sublime; The right hand of the Lord does mighty things.
17 I will not die, but I will live, And I will tell of the works of JAH.
18 JAH punished me severely, but he did not hand me over to death.
19 Open to me the doors of justice; I will enter through them, I will praise JAH.
20 This is the gate of the Lord; Through it the righteous will enter.
21 I will praise you because you have heard me, and you have gone to me for salvation.

22 The stone that the builders rejected has become the head of the corner.
23 This is from the Lord, and it is a marvelous thing in our eyes.
24 This is the day that the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.
25 O Lord, save us now, I pray you; I pray you, O Lord, make us prosper now.
26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; From the house of Jehovah we bless you.
27 The Lord is God, and he has given us light; Attach victims with ropes to the horns of the altar.
28 You are my God, and I will praise you; My God, I will exalt you.
29 Praise the Lord, for he is good; Because His mercy endures forever

Psalms Chapter 120

Prayer in the face of the danger of a deceitful tongue

1 I cried to the Lord when I was in distress, and he answered me.
2 Deliver my soul, O Lord, from the lying lip, And from the deceitful tongue.
3 What will it give you, or what will it profit you, O deceitful tongue?
4 Sharp arrows of a brave man, With juniper embers.
5 Woe to me, I dwell in Meshech, and I dwell among the tents of Kedar!
6 My soul has dwelt long with those who hate peace.
7 I am peaceful; But they, as I speak, make war on me.

Psalms Chapter 121

Jehovah is your keeper

1 I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; Where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord, who made the heavens and the earth.
3 Your foot will not be turned into a slippery slope, nor will he who keeps you fall asleep.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shadow at your right hand.
6 The sun will not weary you by day, Nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all evil; He he he will guard your soul.
8 The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from now on and forever.

Psalms Chapter 122

Prayer for the peace of Jerusalem

1 I rejoiced with those who said to me, We will go to the house of the Lord.
2 Our feet were within your gates, O Jerusalem.
3 Jerusalem, which has been built Like a city that is well joined together.
4 And there the tribes went up, the tribes of JAH, According to the testimony given to Israel, To praise the name of the LORD.
5 For there are the seats of judgment, The thrones of the house of David.
6 Ask for the peace of Jerusalem; May they prosper who love you.
7 Be peace within your walls, And rest within your palaces.
8 For the love of my brothers and my companions I will say: Peace be with you.
9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God I will seek your good.

Psalms Chapter 123

Prayer asking for mercy

1 I lift up my eyes to you, to you who dwell in the heavens.
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look on the hand of their masters, And as the eyes of a maidservant on the hand of her mistress, So our eyes look on the Lord our God, Until he has mercy on us.
3 Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us, For we are very tired of contempt.
4 Our soul is fed up with the scorn of those who are comfortable, and the contempt of the proud.

Psalms Chapter 124

Praise for being delivered from enemies

1 Unless the Lord had been for us, Let Israel now say;
2 If the Lord had not been for us, When men rose up against us,
3 They would have swallowed us alive then, When their anger was kindled against us.
4 Then the waters would have overwhelmed us; The torrent would have passed over our soul;
5 Then the mighty waters would have passed over our soul.
6 Blessed be Jehovah, who did not give us a prey to their teeth.
7 Our soul escaped like a bird from the snare of the hunters; The noose was broken, and we escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

Psalms Chapter 125

God protects his people

1 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which does not move but remains forever.
2 As Jerusalem has mountains around it, so Jehovah is around his people from now on and forever.
3 For he will not rest the rod of wickedness on the inheritance of the righteous; Lest the righteous stretch out their hands to iniquity.
4 Do good, O Lord, to the good, and to those who are upright in their hearts.
5 But those who turn away after their wickedness, the Lord will bring with them that do iniquity; Peace be upon Israel.
