Psalms 76-100

Psalms Chapter 76

The God of victory and judgment

1 God is known in Judah; In Israel his name is great.
2 His tabernacle is in Salem, and his habitation in Zion.
3 There he broke the arrows of the bow, the shield, the sword and the weapons of war. Selah
4 Glorious are you, mightier than the hunting mountains.
5 The strong of heart were stripped, they slept their sleep; He did not make use of his hands any of the strong men.
6 At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, The chariot and the horse were hindered.
7 You are fearsome; And who can stand before you when your anger is kindled?
8 You made judgment heard from heaven; The earth was afraid and was in suspense
9 When you rose up, O God, to judge, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah
10 Surely the wrath of man will praise you; You will repress the rest of the anger.
11 Promise, and pay to the Lord your God; All who are around him, bring offerings to the Fearsome One.
12 He will cut off the spirit of princes; He is feared by the kings of the earth.

Psalms Chapter 77

Meditation on the mighty acts of God

1 With my voice I cried to God, I cried to God, and he will hear me.
2 I sought the Lord in the day of my trouble; I raised my hands to him at night, without rest; My soul refused comfort.
3 I remembered God, and I was moved; He complained to me, and my spirit fainted. Selah
4 You wouldn’t let me close my eyes; I was broken, and I did not speak.
5 He considered the days from the beginning, The years of the ages.
6 He reminded me of my songs at night; He meditated in my heart, And my spirit inquired:
7 Will the Lord cast away forever, And will he no longer be favorable to us?
8 Has his mercy ceased forever? Is his promise perpetually gone?
9 Has God forgotten to have mercy? Has he shut up his pity in anger? Selah
10 I said: This is my illness; I will therefore remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.
11 I will remember the works of JAH; Yes, I will remember your ancient wonders.
12 I will meditate on all your works, And I will speak of your deeds.
13 O God, holy is your way; What god is great like our God?
14 You are the God who works wonders; You made your power known among the people.
15 With your arm you redeemed your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah
16 The waters saw you, O God; The waters saw you, and were afraid; The abysses also shook.

17 The clouds poured out floods of water; The heavens thundered, and your rays ran.
18 The voice of your thunder was in the whirlwind; Your lightning illuminated the world; The earth shook and trembled.
19 Your way was in the sea, and your paths in many waters; And your footsteps were not known.
20 You led your people like sheep By the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Psalms Chapter 78

God's faithfulness towards his unfaithful people

1 Listen, my people, to my law; Incline your ear to the words of my mouth.
2 I will open my mouth in proverbs; I will speak things hidden from ancient times,
3 Which we have heard and understood; That our parents told us.
4 We will not hide them from his children, telling the coming generation the praises of the Lord, and his power, and the wonders that he did.
5 He established a testimony in Jacob, and he established a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to declare to his children;
6 So that the generation to come may know it, and the children that will be born; And those who will rise up will tell it to his children,
7 so that they will put their trust in God, and will not forget the works of God; Let them keep his commandments,
8 And do not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; A generation that did not set his heart, nor was his spirit faithful to God.
9 The sons of Ephraim, armed archers, turned their backs on the day of battle.
10 They did not keep the covenant of God, Nor would they walk in his law;
11 But they forgot his works, and his wonders which he had shown them.
12 Before his parents he did wonders in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13 He divided the sea and made them pass through; He stopped the waters as if in a heap.
14 He led them by day with a cloud, and all night with the glare of fire.
15 He split the rocks in the wilderness, and made them drink as from great depths,
16 For he brought forth streams from the rock, and caused waters to descend like rivers.
17 But they still sinned against him again, rebelling against the Most High in the wilderness;
18 For they tempted God in his heart, asking for food to his taste.
19 And they spoke against God, saying, Can he set a table in the wilderness?
20 Behold, he smote the rock, and waters gushed forth, and torrents overflowed the earth; Can he also give bread? Will he provide meat for his people?
21 Therefore the LORD heard, and was indignant; The fire was kindled against Jacob, and fury also rose against Israel,
22 Because they had not believed God, Nor had they trusted in his salvation.
23 However, he commanded the clouds above, And opened the doors of heaven,
24 And he rained down manna on them so that they could eat, And he gave them wheat from heaven.
25 The man ate the bread of nobles; He sent them food until they were satisfied.
26 He moved the east wind in the sky, and brought the south wind with its power,
27And he rained flesh upon them like dust, Like sand of the sea, birds that fly.
28 She made them fall in the middle of the camp, around their tents.
29 They ate and were satisfied; So he fulfilled their wish.
30 They had not taken away their longing, The food was still in their mouth,
31 When the wrath of God came upon them, And he put to death the mightiest of them, And struck down the chosen of Israel.
32 With all this, they still sinned, And did not believe his wonders.
33 Therefore he spent his days in vanity, and his years in tribulation.
34 If he put them to death, then they sought God; Then they turned eagerly to seek him,
35 And they remembered that God was his refuge, and the Most High God was his redeemer.
36 But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue;
37 For his hearts were not right with him, Nor were they firm in his covenant.

38 But he, being merciful, forgave iniquity, and did not destroy them; And he turned away his wrath from him many times, And did not stir up all his wrath.
39 He remembered that they were flesh, a breath that goes and does not return.
40 How many times they rebelled against him in the wilderness, They angered him in the wilderness!

41 And they returned, and tempted God, and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
42 They did not remember his hand, the day that redeemed them from trouble;
43 When he put his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan;
44 And he turned their rivers into blood, And their streams, so that they would not drink.
45 He sent among them swarms of flies that devoured them, and frogs that destroyed them.
46 He also gave its fruit to the caterpillar, and its labor to the locust.
47 He destroyed his vineyards with hail, and his fig trees with frost;
48 He gave his beasts to the hail, and his cattle to the lightning.
49 He sent his fierce anger upon them; He anger, indignation and anguish, An army of destroying angels.
50 He prepared a way for his wrath; He did not exempt their life from death, But he gave his life to death.
51 He put to death all the firstborn in Egypt, The firstfruits of his strength in the tents of Ham.
52 He brought out his people like sheep, and led them through the wilderness like a flock.
53 He guided them safely, so that they would not be afraid; And the sea covered his enemies.
54 He brought them afterwards to the borders of his holy land, To this mountain which he gained his right hand.
55 He drove out the nations before them; With cords he divided his lands as an inheritance, and made the tribes of Israel dwell in his dwellings.
56 But they tempted and angered the Most High God, And they did not keep the testimonies of him;
57 But they turned and rebelled like their fathers; They became like a deceitful bow.
58 They angered him with his high places, And provoked him to jealousy with their carved images.
59 God heard it and was angry, and he greatly hated Israel.
60 Therefore he left the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent in which he dwelt among men,
61 And he gave his might into captivity, and his glory into the hand of the enemy.
62 He also gave his people to the sword, and was angry with his inheritance.
63 The fire devoured his young women, and his virgins were not praised in wedding songs.
64 His priests fell by the sword, and his widows made no lamentation.
65 Then the Lord awoke as one who sleeps, Like a mighty man shouting excited by wine,
66 And he smote his enemies behind him; He gave them perpetual disgrace.
67 He rejected the tent of Joseph, and he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,
68 But he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loved.
69He built his sanctuary as an eminence, Like the earth that he founded forever.
70 She chose David his servant, And took him from the sheepfolds;
71 He brought him from after the births, to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.
72 And he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, he shepherded them with the skill of his hands.

Psalms Chapter 79

Lament over the destruction of Jerusalem

1 O God, the nations have come into your inheritance; They have desecrated your holy temple; They reduced Jerusalem to rubble.
2 They gave the bodies of your servants as food to the birds of the air, the flesh of your saints to the beasts of the earth.
3 They shed their blood like water around Jerusalem, and there was no one to bury them.
4 We are shamed by our neighbors, Mocked and mocked by those around us.
5 How long, O Jehovah? Will you be angry forever? Will your zeal burn like fire?
6 Pour out your wrath on the nations that do not know you, And on the kingdoms that do not call on your name.
7 For they have consumed Jacob, and have laid waste his habitation.
8 Remember not against us the iniquities of our ancestors; May your mercies come quickly to find us, Because we are very downcast.
9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; And deliver us, and forgive us our sins for the sake of your name.
10 For the nations will say, Where is your God? Let the vengeance of the blood of your servants that was shed be made known to the nations before our eyes.
11 Let the groaning of the prisoners come before you; According to the greatness of your arm preserve those sentenced to death,
12 And restore to our neighbors in his bosom seven times of the infamy of him, with which they have dishonored you, O Jehovah.
13 And we, your people, and the sheep of your pasture, will praise you forever; From generation to generation we will sing your praises.

Psalms Chapter 80

Plea for restoration

1 O Shepherd of Israel, listen; You who shepherd Joseph like sheep, who are among cherubim, shine.
2 Awaken your power before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh, and come save us.
3 O God, restore us; Your face to shine, and we shall be saved.
4 Jehovah, God of hosts, how long will you show your indignation against the prayer of your people?
5 You gave them bread of tears to eat, and tears to drink in great abundance.
6 You have made us our neighbors a mockery, And our enemies mock each other.
7 O God of hosts, restore us; Your face to shine, and we shall be saved.
8 You brought a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations, and planted it.
9 You cleared a place before it, And caused its roots to take root, and it filled the earth.
10 The mountains were covered with its shadow, and the cedars of God with its branches.
11 He spread out his branches to the sea, and his shoots to the river.
12 Why did you break down its fences, and all who pass by the road harvest it?
13 The wild pig destroys it, and the beast of the field devours it.
14 O God of hosts, return now; He looks from heaven, and considers, and visits this vineyard,
15 The plant that your right hand planted, And the branch that you established for yourself.
16 It is burned with fire, desolate; May they perish because of the rebuke of your face.

17 Let your hand be upon the man of your right hand, upon the son of man whom you established for yourself.
18 So we will not depart from you; You will give us life, and we will call on your name.
19 O Jehovah, God of hosts, restore us! Your face to shine, and we shall be saved.

Psalms Chapter 81

Goodness of God and perversity of Israel

1 Sing with joy to God, our strength; To the God of Jacob shout with joy.
2 Sing a song, and play the tambourine, The delightful harp and the psaltery.
3 Blow the trumpet on the new moon, On the appointed day, on the day of our solemn feast.
4 For it is a statute of Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
5 He established it as a testimony in Joseph When he went out through the land of Egypt. I heard language he didn’t understand;
6 I removed his shoulder from under the load; His hands were unloaded from the baskets.
7 In calamity you cried, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret of thunder; I tested you by the waters of Meribah. Selah
8 Hear, my people, and I will warn you. Israel, if you will listen to me,
9 There will be no other god in you, nor will you bow down to a foreign god.
10 I am the Lord your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt; Open your mouth, and I will fill it.
11 But my people did not listen to my voice, and Israel did not love me.
12 Therefore I left them to the hardness of his heart; They walked on their own advices.
13 Oh that my people had listened to me, that Israel had walked in my ways!
14 In a moment I would have struck down his enemies, and turned my hand against his adversaries.
15 Those who hate the Lord would have submitted to him, and their time would be forever.
16 God would sustain them with the best of the wheat, And with honey from the rock he would satisfy them.

Psalms Chapter 82

Warning against unfair trials

1 God is in the gathering of the gods; In the midst of the gods he judges.
2 How long will you judge unjustly, And accept the persons of the wicked? Selah
3 Defend the weak and the orphan; Do justice to the afflicted and the needy.
4 Deliver the afflicted and the needy; Deliver him from the hand of the wicked.
5 They do not know, they do not understand, They walk in darkness; All the foundations of the earth tremble.
6 I said: You are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High;
7 But you will die like men, And like any of the princes you will fall.
8 Arise, O God, judge the earth; For you will inherit all nations.

Psalms Chapter 83

Prayer asking for the destruction of Israel's enemies

1 O God, do not be silent; Do not be silent, O God, nor be still.
2 For behold, your enemies roar, And those who hate you lift up their heads.
3 Against your people they have consulted cunningly and secretly, And they have taken counsel against your protected ones.
4 They have said, Come, and let us destroy them, that they may not be a nation, and that there may be no more memory of the name of Israel.
5 Because they conspire with one heart, They have made an alliance against you
6 The tents of the Edomites and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagarenes;
7 Gebal, Ammon and Amalek, The Philistines and the inhabitants of Tyre.
8 The Assyrian also joined them; They serve as an arm for Lot’s children. Selah
9 Make them like Midian, like Sisera, like Jabin at the brook Kishon;
10 Who perished at Endor, They were made as dung for the land.
11 Make their captains like Oreb and Zeeb; As to Zebah and Zalmunna to all their princes,
12 who have said: Let us inherit for ourselves the mansions of God.
13 My God, make them like whirlwinds, Like stubble before the wind,
14 Like fire that burns the mountain, Like flame that burns the forest.
15 So pursue them with your storm, And terrify them with your whirlwind.

16 Fill their faces with shame, and let them seek your name, O Jehovah.
17 Be shamed and troubled forever; Be dishonored, and perish.
18 And know that your name is Jehovah; You alone Most High over all the earth.

Psalms Chapter 84

Longing for the house of God

1 How lovely are your dwellings, O Lord of hosts!
2 My soul longs and even ardently desires the courts of the Lord; My heart and my flesh sing to the living God.
3 Even the sparrow finds a home, And the swallow a nest for itself, where it lays its chicks, Near your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.
4 Blessed are those who live in your house; They will praise you forever. Selah
5 Blessed is the man who has his strength in you, in whose heart are your ways.
6 Crossing the valley of tears they change it into a fountain, When the rain fills the ponds.
7 They will go from power to power; They will see God in Zion.
8 Jehovah God of hosts, hear my prayer; Listen, O God of Jacob. Selah
9 Look, O God, at our shield, And fix your eyes on the face of your anointed.
10 For one day in your courts is better than a thousand outside them. I would rather choose to be at the door of the house of my God, Than to dwell in the dwellings of wickedness.
11 For Jehovah God is sun and shield; Jehovah will give grace and glory. He will not take away good from those who walk uprightly.
12 Jehovah of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in you.

Psalms Chapter 85

Plea for God's mercy on Israel

1 You were favorable to your land, O Jehovah; You returned Jacob’s captivity.
2 You forgave the iniquity of your people; You covered all their sins. Selah
3 You suppressed all your anger; You turned away from the heat of your anger.
4 Restore us, O God of our salvation, And cause your wrath to cease from us.
5 Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger from generation to generation?
6 Will you not revive us again, so that your people may rejoice in you?
7 Show us your mercy, O Lord, and give us your salvation.
8 I will listen to what the Lord God will speak; For he will speak peace to his people and to his saints, so that they will not return to madness.
9 Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, so that glory may dwell in our land.
10 Mercy and truth met; Justice and peace kissed.
11 Truth will spring from the earth, and justice will look down from heaven.
12 The Lord will also give good, And our land will give its fruit.
13 Righteousness will go before him, And his steps will make our way.

Psalms Chapter 86

Prayer asking for God's continued mercy

1 Incline your ear, O Lord, and listen to me, For I am afflicted and needy.
2 Guard my soul, for I am pious; Save, O my God, your servant who trusts in you.
3 Have mercy on me, O Lord; Because to you i claim all day.
4 Rejoice the soul of your servant, For to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
5 For you, Lord, are good and forgiving, And great in mercy to all who call on you.
6 Hear, O Lord, my prayer, and pay attention to the voice of my supplications.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call to you, Because you answer me.
8 O Lord, there is none like you among the gods, Nor works equal to your works.
9 All the nations you made will come and worship before you, Lord, and glorify your name.
10 For you are great, and a doer of wonders; Only you are God.
11 Teach me your way, O Lord; I will walk in your truth; Firm my heart so that I fear your name.
12 I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and I will glorify your name forever.
13 For your mercy is great toward me, and you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
14 O God, the proud have risen up against me, and a conspiracy of violent men has sought my life, and they have not set you before them.

15 But you, Lord, merciful and gracious God, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy and truth,
16 Look upon me, and have mercy on me; Give your power to your servant, and keep the son of your handmaid.
17 Make me a sign for good, and let those who hate me see it and be ashamed; For you, Jehovah, helped me and comforted me.

Psalms Chapter 87

The privilege of dwelling in Zion

1 Its foundation is on the holy mountain.
2 The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the mansions of Jacob.
3 Glorious things have been said of you, City of God. Selah
4 I will remember Rahab and Babylon among those who know me; Behold Philistia and Tyre, with Ethiopia; This one was born there.
5 And of Zion it will be said: This one and that one were born in it, And the Most High Himself will establish it.
6 The Lord will count when he registers the people: This one was born there. Selah
7 And singers and players in it will say: All my sources are in you.

Psalms Chapter 88

Plea for deliverance from death

1 O Lord, God of my salvation, day and night I cry before you.
2 May my prayer come to your presence; Incline your ear to my cry.
3 For my soul is weary of evils, and my life is close to Sheol.
4 I am numbered among those who go down to the grave; I am like a man without strength,
5 Abandoned among the dead, Like those put to the sword who lie in the grave, Whom you no longer remember, And who were snatched from your hand.
6 You have put me in the deep pit, In darkness, in deep places.
7 Your wrath rests on me, and you have afflicted me with all your waves. Selah
8 You have removed my acquaintances from me; You have made me an abomination to them; I’m locked up, and I can’t get out.
9 My eyes have become sick because of my affliction; I have called upon you, O Lord, daily; I have extended my hands to you.
10 Will you manifest your wonders to the dead? Will the dead arise to praise you? Selah
11 Will your mercy be counted in the grave, Or your truth in Abaddon?
12 Will your wonders be recognized in darkness, And your righteousness in the land of oblivion?
13 But I have cried to you, O Lord, and in the morning my prayer will appear before you.
14 Why, O Lord, do you reject my soul? Why do you hide your face from me?
15 I am afflicted and needy; Since youth I have carried your terrors, I have been fearful.
16 Your wrath has passed over me, and your terrors oppress me.
17 They have surrounded me like waters continually; I have been surrounded by one.
18 You have removed friend and companion from me, and put my acquaintances in darkness.

Psalms Chapter 89

God's Covenant with David

1 I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; From generation to generation I will make your faithfulness known with my mouth.
2 For I said, Mercy will be built up forever; In the heavens themselves you will affirm your truth.
3 I made a covenant with my chosen one; I swore to David my servant, saying:
4 I will establish your descendants forever, And I will build your throne throughout all generations. Selah
5 The heavens will celebrate your wonders, O Lord, Your truth also in the congregation of the saints.
6 For who in heaven can be equal to Jehovah? Who will be like Jehovah among the sons of the powerful?
7 God is fearsome in the great congregation of saints, and formidable above all who are around him.
8 O LORD, God of hosts, who is like you? You are powerful, Jehovah, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
9 You have dominion over the roughness of the sea; When its waves rise, you calm them.
10 You broke Rahab as if he were wounded to death; With your powerful arm you scattered your enemies.
11 Yours are the heavens, yours also the earth; You founded the world and its fullness.
12 The north and the south, you created them; Tabor and Hermon will sing in your name.
13 Yours is the mighty arm; Your hand is strong, your right hand is exalted.
14 Righteousness and judgment are the foundation of your throne; Mercy and truth go before your face.
15 Blessed are the people who know how to praise you; He will walk, O Jehovah, in the light of your face.
16 In your name he will rejoice all day long, and in your righteousness he will be exalted.
17 For you are the glory of his power, and through your good pleasure you will increase our power.
18 For the Lord is our shield, and the Holy One of Israel is our king.
19 Then you spoke in a vision to your saint, And you said: I have given help to one who is powerful; I have exalted a chosen one of my people.
20 I found David my servant; I anointed him with my holy anointing.
21 My hand will always be with him, My arm will also strengthen him.
22 The enemy will not surprise him, Nor will the son of iniquity break him;
23 But I will destroy his enemies before him, and I will strike down those who hate him.
24 My truth and my mercy will be with him, and his power will be exalted in my name.
25 Likewise I will put his hand over the sea, and his right hand over the rivers.
26 He will cry to me: You are my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
27I will also make him my firstborn, The most exalted of the kings of the earth.
28 I will keep my mercy for him forever, And my covenant will be firm with him.
29 I will appoint his descendants forever, And his throne will be like the days of heaven.
30 If his children forsake my law, and do not walk in my judgments,
31 If they profane my statutes, and do not keep my commandments,
32 then I will punish his transgression with the rod, and his iniquities with stripes.

6 photo

33 But I will not take away my mercy from him, Nor will I falsify my truth.
34 I will not forget my covenant, Nor will I change what has come out of my lips.
35 I have once sworn by my holiness, And I will not lie to David.
36 His descendants will be forever, And his throne will be like the sun before me.
37 Like the moon it will be firm forever, And like a faithful witness in heaven. Selah
38 But you have rejected and despised your anointed, and you have been angry with him.
39 You broke your servant’s covenant; You have desecrated his crown to the ground.
40 You broke down all his fences; You have destroyed his strongholds.
41 Everyone who passes along the way plunders it; He is a reproach to his neighbors.
42 You have exalted the right hand of his enemies; You have made all his adversaries happy.
43 You also dulled the edge of his sword, And did not lift it up in battle.
44 You caused his glory to cease, And you cast his throne to the ground.
45 You have shortened the days of his youth; You have covered him with disgrace. Selah
46 How long, O Jehovah? Will you hide forever? Will your anger burn like fire?
47 Remember how short my time is; Why have you created every son of man in vain?
48 What man will live and he will not see death? Will it free his life from the power of Sheol? Selah
49 Lord, where are your ancient mercies, which you swore to David by your truth?
50 Lord, remember the reproach of your servants; Disgrace of many peoples, which I carry in my bosom.
51 For your enemies, O Lord, have dishonored, Because your enemies have dishonored the steps of your anointed.
52 Blessed be Jehovah forever. Amen and amen.

Psalms Chapter 90

The eternity of God and the impermanence of man

1 Lord, you have been a refuge for us from generation to generation.
2 Before the mountains were born And you formed the earth and the world, From everlasting to everlasting, you are God.
3 You turn to man until he is broken, And you say: Repent, sons of men.
4 For a thousand years before your eyes Are like yesterday, which is past, And like one of the watches of the night.
5 You carry them away as with a torrent of waters; They are like a dream, Like the grass that grows in the morning.
6 In the morning it blossoms and grows; In the evening it is cut down and dries up.
7 For in your anger we are consumed, and in your wrath we are troubled.
8 You set our iniquities before you, Our errors in the light of your face.
9 For all our days decline because of your anger; We spend our years as a thought.
10 The days of our age are seventy years; And if in the most robust they are eighty years, Yet their strength is annoyance and work, Because soon they pass, and we fly.
11 Who knows the power of your anger, And your indignation according to which you should be feared?
12 Teach us in such a way to number our days, That we may bring wisdom to our hearts.
13 Return, O Jehovah; even when? And be gentle with your servants.
14 In the morning fill us with your mercy, And we will sing and rejoice all our days.
15 Rejoice us according to the days in which you afflicted us, And the years in which we saw evil.
16 Let your work appear in your servants, and your glory in their children.
17 Let the light of the Lord our God be upon us, and the work of our hands establish upon us; Yes, the work of our hands confirms.

Psalms Chapter 91

Dwelling under the shadow of the Almighty

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will dwell under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say to the Lord: My hope and my castle; My God, in whom I will trust.
3 He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, From the destroying pestilence.
4 With his feathers he will cover you, and under his wings you will be safe; Shield and buckler is his truth.
5 You will not fear the terror by night, Nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 Nor the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor the destruction that destroys at noonday.
7 A thousand will fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it will not reach you.
8 Surely with your eyes you will look And see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord my hope, the Most High, your habitation,
10 No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your dwelling.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways.
12 They will carry you in their hands, so that your foot does not strike against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the asp; You will trample the lion cub and the dragon.
14 Because his love has placed upon me, I will also deliver him; I will praise him, because he has known my name.
15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in anguish; I will deliver him and glorify him.
16 I will satisfy him with long life, And I will show him my salvation.

Psalms Chapter 92

Praise for the goodness of God

1 It is good to praise you, O Lord, and to sing psalms to your name, O Most High;
2 Announce your mercy in the morning, And your faithfulness every night,
3 In the decacord and in the psaltery, In soft tone with the harp.
4 Because you have made me happy, O Lord, with your works; In the works of thy hands I rejoice.
5 How great are your works, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep.
6 The foolish man does not know, And the fool does not understand this.
7 When the wicked spring up like grass, And all the workers of iniquity flourish, It is to be destroyed forever.
8 But you, Jehovah, are forever Most High.
9 For behold your enemies, O Jehovah, For behold, your enemies shall perish; They are scattered all evildoers.
10 But you will increase my strength like that of the buffalo; I will be anointed with fresh oil.
11 And my eyes will look upon my enemies; My ears will hear of those who rose up against me, of the evil ones.
12 The righteous will flourish like the palm tree; He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Planted in the house of the Lord, In the courts of our God they will flourish.
14 Even in old age they will bear fruit; They will be vigorous and green,
15 To announce that the Lord my strength is right, And that in him there is no injustice.

Psalms Chapter 93

The majesty of Jehovah

1 Jehovah reigns; she dressed herself in magnificence; Jehovah clothed himself, he girded himself with power. He also established the world, and it will not be moved.
2 Firm is your throne from then on; You are eternally.
3 They lift up the rivers, O Jehovah, The rivers lift up the sound of him; The rivers raised their waves.
4 The Lord on high is mightier than the roar of many waters, more than the mighty waves of the sea.
5 Your testimonies are very firm; Holiness befits your house, O Jehovah, forever and ever.

Psalms Chapter 94

Prayer crying out for revenge

1 Jehovah, God of revenge, God of revenge, show yourself.
2 Magnify yourself, O Judge of the earth; He repays the proud.
3 How long, O Lord, will the wicked rejoice?
4 How long will they utter and speak harsh things, And will all those who do iniquity boast?
5 They destroy your people, O Lord, and they afflict your inheritance.
6 They kill the widow and the foreigner, And they kill the orphans.
7 And they said, JAH will not see, Nor will the God of Jacob understand.
8 Understand, you fools of the people; And you fools, when will you be wise?
9 He who made the ear, will he not hear? He who formed the eye, will he not see?
10 He who punishes the nations, will he not rebuke? Will he who teaches man science not know?
11 The LORD knows the thoughts of men, Which are vanity.
12 Blessed is the man whom you, JAH, correct, And in your law you instruct him,
13 To give him rest in the days of affliction, While the pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For the LORD will not abandon his people, nor forsake his inheritance,
15 But judgment will be turned to righteousness, and all the upright in heart will go after it.
16 Who will stand up for me against the evil ones? Who will stand up for me against evildoers?
17 If the Lord did not help me, my soul would soon dwell in silence.
18 When I said, My foot slips, Your mercy, O Lord, sustained me.
19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me, Your consolations gladdened my soul.

20 Will the throne of iniquities be joined to you, That does wrong under the form of law?
21 They gather together against the life of the righteous, And condemn innocent blood.
22 But the Lord has been my refuge, and my God has been the rock of my trust.
23 And he will turn his iniquity upon them, And he will destroy them in his own iniquity; The Lord our God will destroy them.

Psalms Chapter 95

Song of praise and worship

1 Come, let us shout joyfully to the Lord; Let us sing with joy to the rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before him with praise; Let us acclaim him with songs.
3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great King over all gods.
4 For the depths of the earth are in his hand, and the heights of the mountains are his.
5 The sea is also his, for he made it; And his hands formed the dry land.
6 Come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before Jehovah our Maker.
7 For he is our God; We are the people of his pasture, and sheep of his hand. If you hear his voice today,
8 Do not harden your hearts, as in Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the wilderness,
9 Where your fathers tempted me, tested me, and saw my works.
10 For forty years I was displeased with the nation, And I said: It is a people that wanders in heart, And they have not known my ways.
11 Therefore I swore in my anger That they would not enter my rest.

Psalms Chapter 96

Song of praise

1 Sing a new song to the Lord; Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing to the Lord, bless his name; Announce his salvation day by day.
3 Proclaim his glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.
4 For great is the Lord, and worthy of supreme praise; He feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the people are idols; But Jehovah made the heavens.
6 Praise and magnificence before him; Power and glory in his sanctuary.
7 Pay tribute to the Lord, O families of the people, Give to the Lord the glory and the power.
8 Give to Jehovah the honor due to his name; Bring offerings, and come to his court.
9 Worship Jehovah in the beauty of holiness; Tremble before him, all the earth.
10 Say among the nations: Jehovah reigns. He also established the world, he will not be moved; He will judge the people in justice.
11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth rejoice; Let the sea roar and its fullness.
12 Let the field rejoice, and everything in it; Then all the trees of the forest will overflow with joy,
13 Before the LORD who has come; Because he came to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice, And the people with his truth.

Psalms Chapter 97

The dominion and power of Jehovah

1 Jehovah reigns; Let the earth rejoice, Let the many coasts be glad.
2 Clouds and darkness around him; Justice and judgment are the foundation of his throne.
3 Fire will go before him, and will burn his enemies around him.
4 His lightning illuminated the world; The earth saw and shook.
5 The mountains melted like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth.
6 The heavens declared his righteousness, and all the people saw his glory.
7 Let all those who serve graven images be ashamed, Those who glory in idols. All the gods prostrate themselves to him.
8 Zion heard and was glad; And the daughters of Judah, O Lord, rejoiced at your judgments.
9 For you, Jehovah, are exalted above all the earth; You are highly exalted above all gods.
10 You who love the Lord hate evil; He guards the souls of his saints; He delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous, And praise the memory of his holiness.

Psalms Chapter 98

Praise for God's justice

1 Sing a new song to the LORD, For he has done wonders; His right hand has saved him, and his holy arm.
2 The Lord has made his salvation known; In the sight of the nations he has discovered his righteousness.
3 He has remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel; All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
4 Sing joyfully to the Lord, all the earth; Reaise the voice, clap and sing psalms.
5 Sing psalms to the Lord with the harp; With harp and singing voice.
6 Shout with trumpets and sounds of trumpets, Before the king Jehovah.
7 Let the sea roar and its fullness, The world and those who live in it;
8 Let the rivers clap their hands, Let the mountains all rejoice
9 Before the Lord, for he has come to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice, and the people with righteousness.

Psalms Chapter 99

Jehovah's Faithfulness to Israel

1 Jehovah reigns; the towns will tremble. He is seated on the cherubim, the earth will be shaken.
2 The Lord is great in Zion, and exalted above all people.
3 Praise your great and awesome name; He is holy.
4 And the glory of the king loves judgment; You confirm righteousness; You have done judgment and justice in Jacob.
5 Exalt the Lord our God, and bow down before his footstool; He is holy.
6 Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among those who called on his name; They called on Jehovah, and he answered them.
7 He spoke with them in a pillar of cloud; They kept his testimonies, and the statute that he had given them.
8 Jehovah our God, you answered them; You were a forgiving God to them, and a retributor of his works.
9 Exalt the Lord our God, and bow down before his holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy.

Psalms Chapter 100

Exhortation to gratitude

1 Sing joyfully to God, inhabitants of the whole earth.
2 Serve the Lord with joy; Come into his presence with rejoicing.
3 Know that Jehovah is God; He made us, and not we ourselves; We are his people, and sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter into its gates with thanksgiving, into its courts with praise; Praise him, bless his name.
5 For the Lord is good; His mercy endures forever, And his truth to all generations.
